Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 12, 2016 2:06 pm Hi all,
New build, new thread time. We bought a 625sqm battle-axe block at Albany Creek, Brisbane. The driveway is for our use only and is ~90sqm. I was originally a little hesitant with the block but I am starting to warm to it and also think the kids will have lots of fun on the 30m long driveway. Will probably put an electric gate across it down the track to save running after balls, dogs and kids. The house is a modified, flipped and extended Ellison to suit the block. Everything has been approved and we are just waiting to get the slab date. Some details Outside Brick - Astral Pepper Mortar - Natural - ironed (wife is trying to convince me to go off white but having trouble spending $1500 for mortar) Edit: I lost. We now have off-white mortar Roof - Monier Barramundi Flat Profile - A-Line ridging Fascia and Gutters - Night Sky Garage Door - Slimline Shale Grey Window Frames - Anodic Natural Matt Driveway - Covercrete Gun Metal 3-phase power Small pool with heat pump Small shed for camper trailer - 3phase to shed I am going to build a BBQ out the back of the Alfresco and have asked for the builder to provide power, sewer and water to the location. Thinking about having a go of a concrete bench top for it. Inside Extended the Living room and alfresco and extra meter out the back Extended the alfresco an extra 2m towards the pool 2590mm ceiling upper and ground floors Wall Colour - Vanilla Quake Half Skirting, Doors etc - Crisp White Balustrade - Powdercoated black aluminium Stairs - Stain Grade stairs Ground floor tiles are 600x600 porcelain rectified (I gave in) Robe Doors - Mirror Sliding Kitchen Benchtops - 20mm waterfall Blanco Maple Orna with Oliveri PL80U undercount sink. Kitchen Cupboards - Polar White Silk Finish, upgrade to drawers too Bathroom bench tops - 20mm Blanco Maple Orna with undermount Artp 540E Theatre 13mm soundstop plaster to all walls and ceiling. If you can go for the off white mortar do it, I regret it badly now. Your front facade looks great, a bit like ours to be honest, Big fan. Great electrical plan too, lot of lights and fans you guys will be well equipped. Lovely pendant lights and the chevron bathroom tiles are stunning, love them. Best of luck getting your slab down, looking forward to following your build Re: Ellison by Ausbuild, Albany Creek Brisbane 3Jan 13, 2016 10:51 am Woo hoo - another Northside Brisbane Build! Albany Creek is a lovely area! I'm with your wife on the off-white mortar though. We have Austral "Freedom" bricks which are quite similar to the Pepper in colour, and went with off-white mortar for about the same cost ($1,500). It looks lovely. There's another build in our estate with dark bricks and natural mortar and it looks a little dreary but perhaps that is also due to the render and roof colours they used Building a Metricon Barkly 29 in North Brisbane - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=77396 Re: Ellison by Ausbuild, Albany Creek Brisbane 4Jan 13, 2016 12:00 pm Tribe7 Hi nigel01, Congrats on getting your build ready to start, the floor plan looks great, very functional. We will have 6 cousins in the same school. Wish I had 6 cousins in my school when I was growing up. Thanks for the feedback on the off white mortar. I originally wasn't too concerned due to our battle-axe block the house probably won't be visible from the road. Let's see if Ausbuild will try to charge an admin fee Ellison by Ausbuild, Albany Creek Brisbane 5Jan 13, 2016 1:01 pm I agree with Chaton about dark bricks and natural mortar ours look dreary . Good luck with aus build, I hope they play ball and don't charge you a admin fee. Wow 6 cousins in one school is very cool, I have 5 kiddies so that should be fun for them when they are all at school. Re: Ellison by Ausbuild, Albany Creek Brisbane 6Jan 13, 2016 3:35 pm Looking forward to seeing your build come together. We are just about finished our house, also in north Brisbane about 5 mins from you. Ours is also a battle-axe block on 678 sqm and our floorplan is quite similar to yours with the 4 bedrooms and leisure upstairs, 2 living and everything else downstairs. Good luck and have fun Re: Ellison by Ausbuild, Albany Creek Brisbane 7Jan 14, 2016 10:32 pm Yay, got a call from our CLO and I have a meeting Tuesday morning with the electrician to confirm some site works for the pool circuits, future built in Bbq and a future shed. I have told them I wanted it all hidden in the slab so I didn't have any surface mount conduits on our new bricks. Slab pour is set for the 25th. So exciting! Re: Ellison by Ausbuild, Albany Creek Brisbane 8Jan 15, 2016 5:05 am Very exciting, hope all goes well Re: Ellison by Ausbuild, Albany Creek Brisbane 9Jan 15, 2016 9:41 pm Great news your getting to meet the electrician Nigel, you will be really well equipped once your house is finished. Ohh that's exciting for your slab, not long and it will be go time. It seems like it's taken forever to get here. Re: Ellison by Ausbuild, Albany Creek Brisbane 14Jan 18, 2016 5:01 pm Footings are done. Fingers crossed the piers are as deep and have steel as per the slab design. Based on the pier details below the piers along the fence line should definitely be deeper than 2000mm so they should have steel in them. Anybody know if they should be protruding from the pier to be tied into the slab? Your fence will be lovely and high too, no one looking into you Re: Ellison by Ausbuild, Albany Creek Brisbane 18Jan 22, 2016 11:26 am Tribe7 Looking good Nigel, you grew plumbing pipes (always makes me laugh seeing them sticking out of the ground like mushrooms) hope that boxing up gets done today, beautiful day for it. Your fence will be lovely and high too, no one looking into you Very warm day to be out in full sun. Just hoping for a clear day monday for the pour then it can rain all it likes for a week. Looks like showers are forecast for most of next week. I asked the external SS about slab cracking and he said they use a chemical membrane to combat it. Just called past and the fencers are putting the palings on and the concreter's are boxing up. I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15020 I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 16962 Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built. Also have a… 3 11547 |
