Your kitchen is exactly what we want in our build, although ours will be a little smaller. May I ask (and you can say no) what the ball park figure was for this kitchen upgrade with all the cabinetry? just trying to gauge the costs. I imagine it'd be hard to gauge unless you're with the same builder and started with the same house design. Kitchen is generally the most expensive space of the home (I know mine is haha) Find my build thread here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=88694&f=31&p=1729530#p1729530 Re: New Home - Summit Homes 'The Orchard' - Perth SOR 65Oct 11, 2017 11:50 pm muffinsrtasty Looks amazing! Your kitchen is exactly what we want in our build, although ours will be a little smaller. May I ask (and you can say no) what the ball park figure was for this kitchen upgrade with all the cabinetry? just trying to gauge the costs. yeah its hard to know, we are building the display specification home already, so most of the additional cost was bundled together with the other display spec upgrades. so that included the vinyl cupboards, double oven, big hotplate, Essastone benches, servery bench and window etc. we further upgraded the stone to the marble look, the upgrade was: "Provide 20mm Essa Stone Fino Venato colour to Kitchen benchtop, servery benchtop and waterfall ends in lieu of Builders standard range colour" - $1,937.00 we also added an additional ~800mm wide cupboard with benchtop, splashback and powerpoint in the scullery, this cost about $1,000. i wanted to get the shaker style cabinet profile for the cupboards but that was a $6,000 variation and I couldn't justify the cost considering you actually have to be in the kitchen to see the cupboards, so it wouldn't be that much of a feature. good luck with your decisions! Re: New Home - Summit Homes 'The Orchard' - Perth SOR 66Oct 12, 2017 11:13 am Love the stone choice, we are having something similar. Its so hard not to over spend at the pre-start right?! The wife couldn't go with out the shaker style......$8k Later Are you having flooring done before you move in? _____________________________________ Building in Bedfordale Perth WA https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89716 Churchman Brook Electrical Services EC 8659 Re: New Home - Summit Homes 'The Orchard' - Perth SOR 67Oct 12, 2017 11:52 am sparky_JsP Hi Looking great, glad to see someone else is keeping the Australian dream alive with the big back yard! The wife couldn't go with out the shaker style......$8k Later Are you having flooring done before you move in? Oh my gosh yes, it really adds up doesn't it! Little bits here and there, bam! If our kitchen orientation was different I would have forced the shaker style on hubby LOL. But as it is, the only cupboards you really see from the rest of the house (unless you're standing in the kitchen itself) is the back of the island bench. So I couldn't justify it to myself. That said, I am thinking maybe I should have had shaker style panels on the back of the island LOL. Oh well! Yes we're getting flooring done as soon as we get handover *hopefully*. It would just be too painful to try get flooring done after all our crap is already moved in. I still have to confirm my carpet choice (bedrooms and theatre), but we've locked in solid spotted gum floorboards for the rest of the house. So in love with them! and yes I agree JS15. new 'large family blocks' are still smaller than the older standard 700sqm. one of the reasons we ended up deciding to stay in the same area and going with knocking down an existing house, even though it was a bit of a waste as the house itself wasn't terrible. Re: New Home - Summit Homes 'The Orchard' - Perth SOR 69Oct 17, 2017 10:35 pm Good news today!! Looks like the power install should *hopefully* start tomorrow, and be finished on 25th... I have my fingers and toes crossed! Although my stomach did just drop at the cost of upgrading to shaker style doors..... I really was going to do that at pre-start but that is a lot of money for different doors!!! Although I have been horrified in general about the cost of changing various cupboards in the kitchen, you'd think they were gold plated. Question on your vanities in the bathroom and ensuite - they are wall hung (which I love) did you have to pay an upgrade fee for those or was it included? Question on your vanities in the bathroom and ensuite - they are wall hung (which I love) did you have to pay an upgrade fee for those or was it included? I know right!!!! I was expecting a couple of thousand, not SIX! We do have a lot of cupboards though, and each builder does things differently, so you never know! As for the vanities, they were included as part of the display specification. Good luck with your build (and all the decisions!!!). I found this forum a great help in the early stages too Re: New Home - Summit Homes 'The Orchard' - Perth SOR 73Oct 28, 2017 12:30 am Ugh I spoke to soon. Apparently now the power can't be installed because the gas line has been installed in the 'exclusion zone'. We finally managed to get the water meter & main shifted for this reason, and now its gas! ARGH! Re: New Home - Summit Homes 'The Orchard' - Perth SOR 76Nov 20, 2017 12:38 am Choosy That is a long wait, WP must have had a lot of P2P applications before the price rise. In my opinion, it was a combo of a few things: - Power utility indecisive about the "preferred location" for the power dome - Water utility taking a long time to move the meter and pipe (lots of backward and forward about what was actually required) - Power contractor originally assigned to our job going bust in September, leading to a backlog of jobs for the other contractor taking over our job - Gas utility installing the new gas main on an incorrect alignment, despite drawing a "Dial Before You Dig" style plan on the inside of the new meter box showing it 1.0m from the fence, it was actually ~0.5m from the fence (????!!!) - Contracts admin at my builder not chasing up and pushing the issue effectively. Soooooooooo frustrating! Re: New Home - Summit Homes 'The Orchard' - Perth SOR 77Nov 20, 2017 8:50 pm Glad we have got most of this done ourselves without much delay. We had to supply the WP contractor a cadastral survey and then still had to get them back out to shift the dome closer to the fence. Hopefully handover is not far away now. Re: New Home - Summit Homes 'The Orchard' - Perth SOR 78Nov 24, 2017 9:59 pm The power is connected to the house, awaiting final commissioning on Monday! And we have a tentative inspection date! 10th Dec! Right in time for Xmas shutdowns Re: New Home - Summit Homes 'The Orchard' - Perth SOR 79Dec 06, 2017 12:31 am Ooops 10th is a Sunday LOL. 11th Dec! Driveway is done! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ However, we have a new supervisor (we just for like two weeks). The old one went to a new company. Emailed him today to ask about the garage door and he's not sure Fingers and toes crossed that it actually gets installed this week!!!!! Other than that, things look finished, although there might still be some exterior painting to finish. So close, but still so far..................
