Congrats Wassup! LIH have great floor plans and inclusions! Where are you building? Thought it would be good to learn from current and previous LIH clients! Wanting to get my head around upgrade costs, etc. before my tender and colours appointment! Feel free to ask questions/comment for other LIH clients Building with Long Island Homes 23sq custom build 2017 Re: Anyone building with Long Island Homes? 4Oct 24, 2016 10:48 am - Building with Long Island Homes 23sq custom build 2017 Re: Anyone building with Long Island Homes? 5Oct 24, 2016 11:55 am I like it - lost a bedroom but gained a study and also WIR to the smaller bedrooms. A great amount of storage in a 20sq home with the linen cupboards etc. What did you get quoted to add the waterfall edge to your kitchen island? I assume its stone. We are also waiting our tender and colour appointment so maybe we will have more to discuss after this lol. We will be in Mt Duneed Armstrong. Re: Anyone building with Long Island Homes? 6Oct 24, 2016 12:00 pm I was quoted around $900 for the waterfall edge so I scrapped it, they just haven't updated the floorplan If you make any changes/additions to the house make sure you triple check the floorplan, I've spent almost a year on this floorplan and still have small things that still needing fixing such as the tiny window in my ensuite! Have you added anything to your quote? I have added: - mirror shaving cabinets - powder room - bifold doors - large front door - cavity sliders - high ceilings Building with Long Island Homes 23sq custom build 2017 Re: Anyone building with Long Island Homes? 7Nov 04, 2016 2:49 pm Colours selection complete. Thank god that's over! Now waiting for the variations and estimating Building with Long Island Homes 23sq custom build 2017 Re: Anyone building with Long Island Homes? 8Nov 07, 2016 8:05 am I like it! You will have a tiled roof? Any suprises along the way? How much did you upgrade to a different range? How much larger is the front door from standard and what did they charge? How exciting! Re: Anyone building with Long Island Homes? 9Nov 07, 2016 10:21 am Wassup I like it! You will have a tiled roof? Any suprises along the way? How much did you upgrade to a different range? Only upgraded the electrical pack to the one you were offered The front door is 1020 wide and cost about $1000 Building with Long Island Homes 23sq custom build 2017 Re: Anyone building with Long Island Homes? 10Nov 07, 2016 10:49 am Nice one! The electrical upgrade seemed a no brainer - glad they sorted you out but Im surprised they hadnt already mentioned this. 1k for a larger door seems expensive as it should simply be quoted as a replacement for a standard 820mm door shouldnt it -you should get a rebate for the original door quoted? Kitchen and Bathroom all done as well? What did you go with? Re: Anyone building with Long Island Homes? 11Nov 14, 2016 12:29 pm Wassup Nice one! Kitchen and Bathroom all done as well? What did you go with? I ended up spending $745 for a 2040x1020 front door, it's an upgraded door with glass so I went with it, love large doors and hate the window panels on the side so that's how I justified the price I have purchased my own doors handles and was rebated for that. However they charge to have "contrast doors" meaning to choose 2 different laminate doors you have to pay $150.....sigh! Overall I spent $12000 on upgrades!! It's an overwhelming experience and I am glad it's over. The people I dealt with at LIH were so helpful and made me feel at ease during the tender and colour selection process. Sooo happy I went with them!! I have heard that many people get some shocks once actual figures are all included. Keep me updated with how you are progressing! Re: Anyone building with Long Island Homes? 15Feb 05, 2017 10:10 pm Wassup Soil test back yet? Which Stage are you building in? We will be in Stage 19 Waters estate. Soil test came back and I was informed my site costs had almost doubled in price!! I argued the price considering the original soil test was identical and I was misinformed during the tender process. Unfortunately I can't do anything about the soil test and site costs (other than go to another builder) decided to go ahead with the build. LIH also made some changes to my floorplan that i was not too happy about!!! Lots of ups and downs with LIH, problems with contracts due to poor management at LIH. Have paid the deposit, just waiting on the next stage. Hopefully everything is smooth sailing from now on! Have you spoken to other builders to confirm their site costs are comparable? When are they due to commence the build? Re: Anyone building with Long Island Homes? 18Mar 03, 2017 11:51 pm Great news! Waited only 3 weeks and the build to be moved to construction (permits and orders are completed now). The staff in charge of construction are wonderful so far. Provide a lot of information and are available to answer all my dumb questions. Have been informed that my site cut will begin on Tuesday.
