Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Indepandent Building inspection price? 3Oct 19, 2016 6:49 am Drekko Hey guys I am an owner of a newly built home. Its about 1.5 months old. I have a 3 month maintenance period where they repair and fix any faults after 3 months I was recommended by a friend to use a indepandent building inspector to get more return on investment. The quote is far more than I expected, I hope I am reading it incorrectly: Post Handover : $ 630 + GST Re- Inspections: $385 + GST I am still waiting on them to get back to me about the pricing as I dont know if its both I need to pay or just one. if its both its over $1000 which I was a bit shocked at You only need to get one(in most cases) and its like everything else, you get what you pay for. Your inspector needs to set out what they will do and what qualifications they have. How will inspector tell you about compliance if there is no qualifications in building surveying, contractual matters if there is no experience in contract administration, how to fix if they never built anything? I am in Vic and I charge about the same (just for your comparison).
