Any updates with you? Now it's school holidays you'll be able to meet up with some suppliers and have a look what's on offer Nothing has happened on our build. It's all my fault! I just haven't had the time. But we start school holidays end of this week (NSW). Then I will really get my act into gear. We made the decision today to build the shed at the same time as the house (6 x 9m) which is exciting. All this dilly dallying has meant we can afford it. Here's hoping a good week for you! My partner would be so jealous haha. What colours did you decide on? That's the one bonus with the process being drawn out - extra savings! Re: GJ Gardner - Rosewood 225 Modified - Riverstone Crossing 264Jun 28, 2017 1:11 pm Our original handover date (27th) has come and gone and we still don't have our keys, or even a confirmed date of when we will have them . It was originally pushed to Thursday and now they are 'hoping' to have us in on Friday but no confirmation - which makes it hard trying to take leave for work and organise removalists etc. They are supposed to be fixing the media wall and the bulkhead in the kitchen this week, the painter has been in to do a few touch ups and the tiler was in on Monday to finish off the grouting and fix up some of the tiles. There are a few things we know won't be done prior to handover: - shower door in the ensuite - they installed the wrong glass and no door - replace the sink in the main bathroom as it's cracked - replace the vanity top in the main bathroom as it was damaged while they were replacing the mirror to rectify the powerpoint issue - hopefully replace the cabinetry too as there will be holes in it that were cut for the powerpoint. We're still waiting to hear back regarding a few of the other issues as well, with our key concerns being: - different light switches in some rooms (they installed the wrong ones and now want us to pay an additional $30 per switch to install the ones that are listed in our contract) - location of light switch in bed 2 (ongoing issue since electrical rough in, 'too hard' to put it at the entrance of the room) - paint colour between the timber infill to above the porch (SS told the painter the wrong colour, and now they want us to pay for an additional variation) - gas connection to the oven - windows in the master, bed 2 and bed 3 open in the opposite direction to the floor plan (turns out the floor plan and window elevations show the windows opening in different directions - on the same set of plans) We're also thinking now that what we had included for the air-conditioning isn't what we thought it was - we included 'wiring' for 2 x split systems to be installed after handover, thinking that all the back end work would be completed and we'd just have to basically plug and play... Turns out the wiring was the only thing done, none of the piping etc so it's going to be a mission to put the AC in our master - which is why we added it to the contract to be done during the build. Bit of a downer tbh! Re: GJ Gardner - Rosewood 225 Modified - Riverstone Crossing 265Jun 28, 2017 2:26 pm Just received an email from our SS: "Unfortunately due to circumstances out of my control handover will be 1pm Monday. This will not change. If you wish to do later in the day due to your work schedual this is also fine just please let me know." Too bad my partner has already taken 3 days off this week (Tues, Thurs + Fri) to make the other 3 handover dates we've been given and can't take any more leave. I'd like to know how they expect a couple who both work full time to be able to take leave at the drop of a hat after having to change it 3 times already... Re: GJ Gardner - Rosewood 225 Modified - Riverstone Crossing 266Jun 28, 2017 3:36 pm That's really poor form having your handover date keep moving. Hope they get most of your issues fixed now they have extra time!?! On the plus side, you will soon have those keys in your hand and be able to enjoy your beautiful new home! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: GJ Gardner - Rosewood 225 Modified - Riverstone Crossing 267Jun 28, 2017 3:37 pm How frustrating!!!! Re: GJ Gardner - Rosewood 225 Modified - Riverstone Crossing 271Jul 05, 2017 11:03 am With a bit of luck we managed to get our keys on Friday! There is still plenty that needs to be fixed, but at least we are in! Re: GJ Gardner - Rosewood 225 Modified - Riverstone Crossing 272Jul 05, 2017 4:25 pm Congratulations Jmart! I have silently following for a little while. Good luck with the PCI fixes. Your pictures of your home looks really good btw. I hope GJ fix all the items on your list ASAP. Re: GJ Gardner - Rosewood 225 Modified - Riverstone Crossing 276Jul 05, 2017 9:17 pm Congrats sweets!!! I hope GJ came to the party and have fixed or are going to fix any issues you had Re: GJ Gardner - Rosewood 225 Modified - Riverstone Crossing 277Jul 05, 2017 9:21 pm Congrats on keys! We'll have to take some photos to share. It's just hard because we're not moving much furniture in until all the trades have been and fixed the issues so we don't have to worry about them damaging our things. GJ are coming to the party on most things but not budging on a few others which is quite frustrating. We also don't know any dates or times when the issues they have agreed to fix will get done. We had the cabinet maker out yesterday to replace the vanity top and basin in the main bathroom as they were both damaged. They were supposed to be there between 11am and 1pm so we arranged for my pop to be there to give them access. Bless him, he got there at 10.30am 'in case they came early'. Well the guy didn't show up until nearly 4pm which meant poor pop sat at our place with no tele (as NBN will take about 2-3 weeks to install and we don't have a TV aerial yet either), no radio, no nothing for nearly 6 hours And then when we went and had a look at what had been done, we noticed the new basin is also cracked! Hopefully another new one won't take too long to be delivered... Fences along our RHS and rear boundary should go up next week, however we can't put our LHS fence up yet until our neighbours get their retaining wall fixed - which they are also waiting on GJ for... We're waiting on GJ to do a proper site scrape / clean because the one they did before handover was pitiful, and also hoping for a good tax refund so turf can also go down next week or the week after - then it will start looking more like a house rather than a construction site! We're also hoping that GJ trades can fix the outstanding issues soon so we can move our things in and make it feel more like a home, because right now it feels a bit cold and empty Re: GJ Gardner - Rosewood 225 Modified - Riverstone Crossing 279Jul 06, 2017 1:58 pm Sounds like they've handed over a half finished house ;-; feel for you with all those issues. Your poor Pop having to wait that long!!! They always do that, my blinds people said 10-12, so I got there are 9.30, then got there at 1.30pm!! Re: GJ Gardner - Rosewood 225 Modified - Riverstone Crossing 280Jul 06, 2017 2:50 pm Oh wow how incredibly frustrating for your pop. My nephew's girlfriend experienced the same thing last week but nothing to do with the builder. She had handover 2 weeks ago and arranged electricity with AGL. Last Wednesday she still hadn't moved in , and AGL asked her to be at the house between 1 and 6 pm so a service guy could come and do a visual check. He ended up coming close to 6 and she had no tv or internet etc either. Coral Homes Avoca 25 in Gainsborough Greens Gold Coast Viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81406 May I ask why you chose not to use GJ Gardiner? I'm actually meeting with one of the sales guys tomorrow for an appointment. Definitely not signing anything yet… 3 13763 |
