Re: Which items to owner supply 3Oct 16, 2016 7:13 pm AJB We are buying our own kitchen appliances, fans for every room and pendant lights. We were going to do our own flooring but decided to get the builder to do it so we didn't have the beading (?) next to the kickboards around the kitchen cabinets. I'll have to do a search on what beading is?? We are supplying our own kitchen appliances also. Our builder supplies builders range of smeg but the oven is too small for our family. We were planning on doing own flooring after the completion through Andersons with their 15% discount for RACQ. Which items to owner supply 4Oct 16, 2016 7:35 pm Letterbox, TV antenna, washing line, down lights/pendants, driveway, gas log fireplace, blinds, flooring alarm and most electricals(get conduits put in, my sparkie nearly fell over when he saw what they were charging for down lights he can do them for around $35each which will save me over $2,000). I bought a letterbox, TV Antenna, Lockwood deadlocks and hafale front door pull handles all for 50% off at masters yesterday and saved myself at least $800 . Which items to owner supply 5Oct 16, 2016 7:57 pm Re: Which items to owner supply 7Oct 16, 2016 9:55 pm We're doing driveway, landscaping, letterbox, clothesline, security doors, remainder of window coverings not considered essential at time of move in, feature walls after handover. Mainly due to final cost already high, and these items are not difficult nor more expensive to be done after handover. Driveways normally cheaper to go direct to supplier. We are not doing flooring after handover as don't want the hassle. Good luck with your build Re: Which items to owner supply 8Oct 16, 2016 10:28 pm I owner supplied all my electricals driveway, landscaping, letterbox, clothesline and kitchen appliances. I'll also be putting my own walk in robe shelving, flyscreens and plantation shutters soon. There seems to be a common theme of a lot of the outside stuff. Do you really save money getting a different concreter to do the driveway? Our initial approximate price for aggregate driveway (standard length which I have no idea what that is) was $5500. This will be adjusted once we decide where to position the house on our odd shaped block. I'm running out of energy running around doing quotes! Re: Which items to owner supply 11Oct 17, 2016 8:14 pm It also depends on how much your builder will owner supply. And also the bank. I think getting the builder to pc the items is a lot better option. That way you can just tell the builder what you or who you want and they do the rest. We owner supplied appliances, vanities, solar. Blinds, tiling, shed, fence. Re: Which items to owner supply 12Oct 17, 2016 10:43 pm The term used here in NSW for the wooden beading is called "Scotia". I wonder if it is the same term used in VIC? I would have used my builder to do the flooring but they would only sell engineered timber which I wasn't happy with so i'm doing my flooring post handover. Good luck with it!
