Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 141Mar 09, 2017 6:00 am Good to see some progress fizzed Not sure id be too happy with that "fix" paying an awful lot of money for a home and thats the result Rawson Homes - General Thread 142Mar 09, 2017 6:45 am same view here alisonandrew... we had our laundry door bricked over up to the first floor however we requested for a taller door... they removed the bricks over the door and corrected the issue... I never thought that they would fix it considering that there was a metal above the laundry door to support the bricks over it but that was later on relocated... btw did anyone else manage to replace their ss? Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 143Mar 09, 2017 1:49 pm @Fizzed: the fact that you can still see the green sarking foil underneath the new flashing means they haven't done a very good job at minimising/eliminating the risk of future leak. @kaycee: Yes we did speak to our area manager and the construction manager for NSW, but heard from the grapevine that most of their SS replacements are of the same (if not less) quality. We refused their offer and decided to stay with current SS. Better the devil you know. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 144Mar 10, 2017 4:03 pm Spoke to our SS today and apparently the head of construction (John) has said that it will do the job it needs to. I called John today and when he eventually called me back he said since we were already meeting the SS on site on Monday he will send his manager as well to discuss our concerns I am not happy ! I paid for the display home not some second rate job ? Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 146Mar 11, 2017 5:11 pm sydneysider JohnnBaut Hi All, this thread is a gem for us who are currently designing our homes. We are building a customised Balmoral 34 which will push it to ~36. As part of the OC promotion, we will get a 6hp aircon which I heard may not be enough for size of the house. Any thoughts from those who have completed their build? Also, If we upgrade to next level up, does anyone know how much it will cost? Have you checked your tender to see which air con unit was included there? As noted above, Rawson provide a bigger A/C unit to houses greater than 34 or 35 squares. < 35, yes you get a upgraded Ducted A/C at no additional cost. The model as of Oct was the Daikin FDYQ200, which is what we're getting. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 148Mar 13, 2017 11:49 am The 14kw model is the standard air conditioning unit provided to homes which are < 35 squares (lux inclusion spec of course). A 20kw unit is provided to homes which exceed 35 squares Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 150Mar 14, 2017 5:51 am anonymous- The 14kw model is the standard air conditioning unit provided to homes which are < 35 squares (lux inclusion spec of course). They will liaise with the right people and will give you a second opportunity to raise your concerns during your electrical appointment. The focus I found with electrical is mainly around power and lighting - very little was discussed about air conditioning so you don't want to forget on the day either. Keen to know how you go. The PCA just got back to me and here is her explanation: In regards to the air-conditioning unit, we do upgrade the unit when the living areas (excluding the alfresco and garage) exceed 35sqm. 3T3 @Anonymous @anonymousmoose @sydneysider 3T3, @anonymous- and @sydneysider - Would that be consistent with your builds? I would have thought the rule is based on the standard squares of the house, and not excluding garage and alfresco. Would be great if you can confirm. Even better if you can forward any evidence if not consistent with PCA's claims based on your build. When Rawson name a house, the squares is based on total squares of the house. For example, a Balmoral 38 is a 38 square house, inclusive of the garage and alfresco. It would be somewhat inconsistent to then say the living area needs to be over 35 squares for you to get the upgraded air con unit. My build is over 35 squares regardless so I can't tell for my situation specifically. If it were me I would press them on the issue - it is a significant difference - but not sure what you can say really. I don't think its explicitly stated anywhere. Probably a good thing you asked early and have time to check. I would suggest even asking the sales person at the display villages (I find the Kellyville sales team more knowledgeable) to see what their thoughts are. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 155Mar 28, 2017 6:18 pm red15 Yes, junction box is for installation after handover. We found the range of outdoor lights fairly limited. There was one we liked well enough but you can buy the same thing anywhere for about a third of the rawson price. Not sure about the full range of sink options, but we upgraded to a double undermount sink. I think it cost us somewhere around the $1k mark but it's been a long time so I may be mistaken. FWIW we're really happy with the sink. It comes with accessories including a dish drainer insert which we use all the time, plus a colander insert and a chopping board insert, both of which we also use. Hi Red, Assuming the undermount you chose is the Pete Evans range, how is it with scratches and dents? I have read many bad reviews on that range being really prone to scratching and denting so kind of undecided at this point. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 156Mar 28, 2017 6:30 pm JohnnBaut Hi everyone. A quick and pleasant update. Rawson updated our aircon for free to the 20hp unit after a few discussions and references to your inputs. Thanks for that. Great outcome. Glad to see them come to the party. Was this with your Pre-construction administrator? It certainly did sound funny to exclude certain rooms when their homes are quoted including these rooms. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 157Mar 28, 2017 8:08 pm The PCA said no but I brought it up again during our internals appointment. The design consultant's response was consistent with the PCA but told us she will double-check. Came back with a variation list showing the price of the upgrade (~5k) and a note that says it will be complimentary for us. Definitely wouldnt have got it if I did not check in the forum. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 158Mar 28, 2017 8:13 pm @JohnnBaut: RH, along with big name project builders, are sensitive to social media. I won't be surprised if they have a team constantly monitoring the web. It is a dog-eat-dog world in the building industry and this is where EBH is consistently ahead of everyone else. There is much room for improvement with RH. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 159Mar 29, 2017 8:55 am We are currently getting our bathrooms tiled, my husband sent me pictures but there is something seriously weird in the main bathroom...the bath is against the wall at one end and the other end has over 30cm to the shower wall. I really don't remember it looking like that - does anyone have any pictures from the display home? Any help would be great! thanks You should check your detail drawings, it may show downpipe within brick pier. 14 14121 Just started the Build process for Chifley 42 with Rawson homes, will keep you all posted with the Build progress. 0 2463 Hi, Apologies - I know there is plenty out there on this but struggling to put together the puzzle.
