We use a microfibre mop from Enjo for our floorboards and tiles. Just add a little warm water to the mop (slightly damp) and it cleans beautifully after you vacuum the floor. Enjo Floor Mop Hi morning star.....thanks for your advice, will look into it. Are you in now? Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 285Aug 15, 2017 8:01 pm Go to the bom site and look at rainfall data for your area. Count the weekdays where rain would have affected work. Ie. Rain would not stop them painting inside so doesnt count. http://www.bom.gov.au/jsp/ncc/cdio/wDat ... startYear= Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 286Aug 15, 2017 8:56 pm Galedpk Go to the bom site and look at rainfall data for your area. How many much rain is considered enough to have an affect on work? Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 288Aug 15, 2017 10:07 pm Hi, for those who has opted to do their floor tiles themselves, can you please share how much credit did you get per sqm from Rawson? Also, if you install the floor tiles after handover, how to install the skirting boards(by Rawson), which normally sits on top of floor tile? Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 289Aug 16, 2017 10:14 am Katran Hi morning star.....thanks for your advice, will look into it. Are you in now? No, we're not. SS said 1st walk-thru will happen next Monday but it's not confirmed yet. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 290Aug 16, 2017 10:29 am NDDreamHome Hi, for those who has opted to do their floor tiles themselves, can you please share how much credit did you get per sqm from Rawson? Ask your colour consultant to provide you with the current figure. 2 years ago it was between $60-$75 per m2. NDDreamHome Also, if you install the floor tiles after handover, how to install the skirting boards(by Rawson), which normally sits on top of floor tile? Rawson will still do the skirting but not fixing it properly to the wall: so you can take it off, do your tiles, and then re-install the skirting again after. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 291Aug 16, 2017 8:18 pm MorningStar Rawson will still do the skirting but not fixing it properly to the wall: so you can take it off, do your tiles, and then re-install the skirting again after. Get it in writting and double confirmed. I had asked for our pantry and WIR to be loose fixed only to find they had done them properly. It was a right royal PIA to get them off without damaging the paint work on the wall. They are not held on by much, but they kind of paint the skirting board and wall together so taking them off can damage the wall unless you very carefully run a good sharp knife between the two. Fortunately in out case and damage from removing them was hidden by our wardrobe inserts and pantry cabinets, but could have been much easier if they had of followed my clear instruction. Seems one of those (many) things that was not conveyed to the SS or lost when SS's changed mid build. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 292Aug 17, 2017 8:08 pm Hi All, I'm unable to decide on flat profile tiled vs colourbond roof. Personally we like the look of tiled roof but seeking your advise on the durability / value of the property , insulation, maintanence etc. Also what "extras" would you add for the roof - sarking, anticon etc. We are building in North Kellyville. Is colorbond a better option? Rawson is giving both choices. Thanks, really appreciate this group for all the insights Regards, Neetha Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 293Aug 18, 2017 12:40 pm Hi, Personally, I can not stand Colourbond but I'm forced to have it as my fencing where I'm building. My roof, however, is tiled. If I didn't have to have it, I wouldn't, it looks cr*p, sounds crap (when playing ball in the garden and it gets hit) and has the visual impression of a prison. I'm looking at products to cover the cr*p once it's installed. Definitely sarking and definitely air-con. If your house is under 34 sq, a 14kw "will do", anything over 35 sq and you have to have a 20kw unit otherwise you'll find the 14kw running constantly. Get a thermometer upstairs and down (if you have an up) as if you only have one downstairs, it will have no idea of the temp upstairs and could be going when you do/don't need it. That's my 50cents worth, I'm sure others will correct me. Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 294Aug 18, 2017 1:33 pm TheBear Get a thermometer upstairs and down (if you have an up) as if you only have one downstairs, it will have no idea of the temp upstairs and could be going when you do/don't need it. The extra thermostat is a good idea. With Daikin that Rawson use that could be in the form of a slave controller and/or a standalone thermostat. For the record the single zone controller you will have two thermostats, one in the controller and one in the return air. Only one can be selected and it is not possible to change the active thermostat on the fly. To change, one needs to change the field settings, which is not really convenient or something a user should be doing. (youtube guides online though) With the zone controller the user can select which thermostat to use (provided the (insert swear word) installers enable them), which can be one of 5 sources, return air, master controller, slave controller (if fitted) and 2 add on thermostats (if fitted). But again only 1 can be selected as the active thermostat at any given time. So basically means it is not possible to avoid the issue you mentioned above. If you have the downstairs thermostat as active, it doesn't know or care what temp upstairs is on even if the upstairs zone is on. And give a good example, dual zone controller is the set-up I have. Normally at night we activate only the upstairs zone, set the temp to 16 and choose the upstairs thermostat as the source. However the the other night my wife forgot to change the active thermostat to be the upstairs controller. End result about midnight I woke up so hot because the heater had been constantly running. Downstairs was cold, but upstairs bloody hot. Change active thermostat to upstairs and all good. My point the thermostats don't automatically follow the zones. Crazy isn't it? There are other third party zone controllers that do a far far better job and can allow zones to be controlled individually, but nothing in the Daikin range. I went on site today and notice the back side and the inner side of the house has the brick 1/3 outside the foundation. Does anyone know if it's common or if this is a default? I am very worried after I seen this today... Many thanks Kate Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 296Aug 19, 2017 3:58 pm katekei Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm currently building with Rawson, and I'm at a stage where they just finish the brickwork and doing the roof tiles. Hi Kate, The Building Code of Australia (BCA) states that "exterior masonry must not overhang more than 15mm past the edge of the slab." Where are you building? In NSW, there are industry guidelines concerning building standards and tolerances: NSW Guides Look up the diagrams on page 29, section 3 under Masonry. Anything over 15mm would be against the BCA. Thank you so much Morning star! I haven't measured it exactly, but by eye sight, the gap is definitely above 2cm. I'm worried that now the roof is 70%completed, what shall I do now? Any recommendations on what I can do? That's great help! Kate Re: Rawson Homes - General Thread 298Aug 19, 2017 4:38 pm katekei Thank you so much Morning star!
