Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Express Two Storey (Ventura Group) build in Hocking, WA 21Jan 08, 2017 7:51 pm So after a long Christmas break where I've been busy shopping in the Boxing Day / New Years sales our block was laid the week before Christmas and has had three long weeks to cure nicely. Fall protection barriers have been put up at the back of the block last week so assuming bricks should arrive any day now. We've also hired a registered builder to inspect the build progress so we're feeling quite comfortable with progress at the moment. We are getting ready to pick a building inspector for our build, just need to decide which one ![]() Thanks SilentBoB ![]() Choosing a building inspector is definitely hard, luckily I work in assessing home insurance claims so have got a lot of industry contacts and was able to ask a registered builder we work with to do my inspections even though he doesn't usually do them. It was great because it puts my mind at ease that the person keeping tabs on our build is someone I know and trust plus I've got all my own knowledge to help the process too. Good luck choosing someone! It is good when you have contacts in the industry that can help out like that. I think I've sort of made up my mind on which inspector to use. Just hoping all the online reviews of him are legit ![]() Our build thread with Smart Homes for Living in Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86092 Re: Express Two Storey (Ventura Group) build in Hocking, WA 26Jan 13, 2017 11:04 pm Soakwells have been installed and bricks/frames scheduled to be delivered next week. Noticed someone has made a bit of a boo boo and all the service pipes in our kitchen for both our wall cabinets and island bench are out by a meter, we're going to speak to the CSO tomorrow and hopefully they'll get the supervisor out quickly to take a look and see what needs to be done ![]() Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Follow our build with Express Two Storey (Ventura Group): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85122 Re: Express Two Storey (Ventura Group) build in Hocking, WA 35Jan 31, 2017 10:53 am Oh no! For example a slab of frosty carina is double the cost… 1 375 ![]() Take stock of what you really need and look at spending a bit more money on the envelope. Passive solar design is largely a disproven method of design, you're far better… 2 1348 No additional cost expect if this change your external wall structure. 12 3157 |
