Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 221Jul 25, 2017 12:57 am Exciting build, lots of similarities to my own build, you will end up with a beautiful home, partly inspired by the slope, quite often sloping blocks produce, great homes. Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 223Jul 26, 2017 11:54 pm Good choice! Definitely looks great with the white mortar Our 37sq Custom Hamptons Inspired Home: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86931 Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 225Jul 28, 2017 2:08 am Thanks heaps! Yeah hopefully they work out ok, the white mortar will be a bit "whiter" than that in the photos, I think the sample house had natural coloured mortar. So the white will POP a bit more. Update today, finally got our revised plans finished, engineering updated and a new revised building permit issued. Have deleted the spiral stairs on the balcony/deck to save costs and give more space on the deck - most importantly saved me 6k in stairs! Now hopefully the builder can order our steel and we can finish the frame. Also after a chat to dani_J have removed the solar panels for the solar hot water and putting a rainwater tank instead.... I was thinking about it for ages but you tipped me over! This weekend we are finalising our order for appliances, there is an ASKO sale going with a free dishwasher so we will be putting an order in before it finishes. Too much happening! Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 226Jul 28, 2017 11:36 pm Sounds like a productive week Chris! Funny you say that about the hot water. I actually had to boil a few kettles for the bath the other night when our solar ran out again We definitely can't wait to get instantaneous! Our 37sq Custom Hamptons Inspired Home: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86931 Doesn't solar just compliment the gas storage hot water? I'm getting solar hws to connect to one side of the house and small instantaneous for the other. I don't like to wait up to 30 seconds to get hot water from the furthest tap. Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 228Jul 29, 2017 9:53 pm Hi Christoshizz I am wondering what other colours you are putting with those bricks. I am in regional Victoria and selkirk don't have any addresses nearby for me to look at...I haven't even seen them in real life but I love the colour from the website. Like you I was trying to decide between cloudburst and thunderstorm. We had to disconnect our panels a few years back as we had so many problems with them. It was fine for the first few years when they were under warranty, but after that it was just a costly nuisance. We have to wait 30 secs - 1 min to get hot water from the tap in the kitchen and our ensuite, shorter for the bathroom which is closer to the service unit. And for some reason, the day after we have used quite a bit of water, we never have enough the following night to fill up a bath! Like you I was trying to decide between cloudburst and thunderstorm. Hi kezza, I have a tonne of photos of both. PM me and I'll try email you some or something. The cloudburst has more of a blue/grey tone The thunderstorm has a more warm brown tone to it and it's darker. Both are nice. Cloudburst has a 3 month or more wait as apparently they are having problems producing it (this made our decision for us!) Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 231Jul 30, 2017 1:02 am Bloody hell what a day today. We dumped the kids at grandma's and spend the day doing house stuff. Locked in bricks Locked in appliances, and got up sold on a 2.5k induction cook top lol Locked in all the bathroom gear/vanity basins and toilets etc Thunderstorm against our colours: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I swear in different light it looks completely different! Your killing me with suspence Haha thanks Steve. Things have been on hold this last week while I redid engineering and changed my plans as we deleted the spiral staircase from the rear deck. They have now ordered the steel for my frame so hopefully some progress later this week!...I hope. Small setback though, the wind we had in Melbourne was crazy this week so it's completely blown over the side fence. No idea what we will do, either replace with temp fencing or something. I'm keen to not put a new fence in yet in case the builders need access. Hopefully the neighbours come to the party and pay half. Looks like the builder has cut the soil down below the footing and the fence had no support at all. I know the builder isn't going to take the blame but be prepared that the neighbour isn't likely to be too helpful there. I had a similar issue but my neighbour actually asked me if it was OK to jump over my fence and fix the replace the panels that were damaged by the builder. My builder was not interested in fixing it nor paying for the damage I really hope this doesn't turn out nasty Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 239Aug 01, 2017 1:51 am Thanks Steve. Believe it or not but this has little to do with the Builder. The soil near the fence is undisturbed and the fence has been swaying in the wind for the last year!! I took video of it swinging with my pinky finger before we did the demo so they neighbours couldn't blame me! Re: Sloping & Narrow block: Modern Hamptons style build: FRA 240Aug 01, 2017 10:08 am Well done you for taking the video beforehand, that may prove important! Agree that a temp fence would be better while the build is going on, don't want a new fence broken Hey everyone! After lurking here for a long time and reading some amazing build journeys, I decided to document my own build to offer a blow by blow of building in Perth… 0 522 Thanks again for this information. If you do hear anything different, would be great to know 4 5850 dimensions on your original plan are inconsistent and with accurate dimensions (including site plan, upstairs and down) i could make a proper scale drawing with furniture… 3 6127 |
