Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 103May 20, 2017 6:40 pm Had a fun day today. Signed off on the home theatre and multi zone home audio system which is a big relief. I got it through Peter at Watergardens big picture people. Very helpful bloke I was happy with his help. Then we went oven /appliance shopping. The Mrs has her eye on the V-zug stem ovens after we walked by an in store demo....Cha Ching! Lol Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 105May 20, 2017 8:22 pm sinbox What was the damage? For the home theatre and audio gear Inc install was a little over 8k. Was very reasonable considering some of the quotes I received. Ended up with the Epson upscaling 4k projector. I went to 4 hi-fi places and these were the only guys who listened to my requirements and were happy to just sell me what I needed as opposed to trying to sell me stuff to replace the components I already have!! In terms of the ovens that's gonna do more damage. I think between the two ovens the Mrs wants they are just over 11k for the pair! Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 106May 23, 2017 12:49 pm In other news. We have been shopping for ovens for the new kitchen. Wife wants a pair of ovens (a combi steam oven and pyro one). Can't believe how expensive these are! We are tossing up between a few brands, v-zug, miele, asko... Very interesting attending the various brands cooking classes and demonstrations they sure know how to sell their stuff! Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 107May 23, 2017 1:19 pm Hey Chris. I can definely vouch for miele and Bosch myself after having both and very happy with these guys. Bosch have excellent post sales support with miele being a close second. Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 108May 23, 2017 1:20 pm SteveMc Hey Chris. Thanks Steve much appreciated! Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 109May 23, 2017 7:54 pm Can't go wrong with either of those brands. We ended up with 2 Miele ovens - not top of the range though, just nice mid-level ones, and a Bosch dishwasher. Having had a Bosch dishwasher for 7 years, it hasn't missed a beat and I love it. Gave our other one to my mother and will get a nice shiny new one for us. Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 110May 23, 2017 10:54 pm Christoshizz In other news. Have fun with that! Took me ages to decide which brand/models. I'm one of those anal types that needs everything to match so it has to be the same brand for all the cooking appliances! Made things really difficult as I would like cooktop from one brand but not their ovens and vice versa. In the end I decided on more of a mid range option in F&P and a Bosch dishwasher. And will probably forego the pyro. I only clean the oven like every 2 years lol so not worth it really IMO. Ha ha. Mind you haven't actually bought anything yet so could still change my mind. Waiting on the end of FY sales... What cooking classes/demos did you attend & where? I'm in the same boat. Want everything to match within reason. I'm going to the vzug demo tomorrow night. Their regular pyro oven is on sale at the moment for about 3k (down from 4k) and the matching steam combi is 7k. I'm still coming to terms with it. We sat through a mini demo at ES trading but this will be a full 3 course meal tomorrow. On Sunday we are booked for a demo with asko. I have to say their product offering looks compelling and their ovens are way cheaper with 5 year warranty. I think the pair, 60 cm pyro and 60cm steam comes to 9k on "sale"... If you can call it that. I had a long chat to the asko rep today and she was great. I'm buying the induction cook top from IKEA. Believe it or not it's made by AEG Electrolux in Germany and has a 5 year replacement warranty!! For 1300 bucks!! It is plain black with no branding on it so it will go with any brand... Nobody will ever know. Shhhhh ! Rangehood I want something silent and with more balls than Tattslotto so am looking at the schweigen brand, they have the motor stored away in the roof so you can't hear them. So the cash saved we can put back into the ovens. Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. I only clean the oven like every 2 years lol so not worth it really IMO. The Bosch dishwasher will be great. We had one in the last house and loved it. Just try get the made in Germany models if you can! Also I think the pyro is a must have. The point of having it is so you don't need to clean the oven it does it for you! Except the glass that has to be done manually (and must be cleaned BEFORE you activate pyro mode otherwise it bakes on) Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 114May 24, 2017 8:02 pm Thanks for the info. Gee $10k just for ovens is making my eyes water . Guess it all depends on how much value you place on things. I'm sure for that price you are going to get something awesome. Lucky you! Yep definitely getting the German made Bosch. I've read that is a must. Kitchen bench tops look AMAZING!! We are having something very similar. Can't wait until we get to *pick* our slab! I've purchased a 300mm Electrolux 17Mj/h gas wok burner (display model half rrp) to sit next to the 80cm induction cooktop. Best of both worlds. I'm also looking at the Schweigen (1200mm under cupboard) with external motor. I'm leaning towards the Sirius rangehood with external motor. I think it has better build quality and is slightly cheaper. Check it out if you haven't. We don't use the oven much, so not too sure which oven I will get. If you like Asko, check out the Asko warehouse sale they have each year in Moorabbin. I bought my Asko dishwasher and rangehood for my previous house there. I'll get an Asko oven if the price is good at the sale. And definitely another Asko dishwasher (will be my 3rd, stick to what you are happy with). Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Good idea too about having both induction and gas. Roughly how much did you get the wok burner for? I am a little worried about condensation issues so the rep from schweigen told me to steer away from the under mount models even though that's the look I was chasing.... Apparently having bigger filters creates more surface area and reduces condensation... Re: Sloping/Narrow Melb build. Slab prep underway 118May 24, 2017 10:34 pm What a fun night at the v-zug demo dinner. Seriously the food they served us was AMAZING!! It was basically a 3 course dinner and they ran through all the features of the combi steam and pyro ovens. Very knowledgeable. Took some happy snaps to share, highly recommend going along if your thinking about using their stuff. I'm still on the fence but wife is prodding me along!!
