Hi all ?
I think it's right about time to start our own build thread. We have been lurking around homeone for quite some time now and have really learned a lot. ππThis is our second time building and hopefully, will be our forever home.
We built with nostra 2years ago and its an off the plan so it's not as complicated as this one now. So some of the process is all still new to us although this time we know what we want and what to lookout for.
We have looked around for ages for a good, reliable builder with a floorplan that suits us. first, we like Fairhaven's inclusions and they seem to have good reviews, but unfortunately, the floorplan we wanted didn't quite fit our block, they had to cut our alfresco in half π₯
Then we looked at Carlisle, and loved the Sorrento 40, we even put a deposit with them as we were quite sure that we found the right house.
But as we were driving past MainVue at Williams Landing, we saw their promotion and it was literally everything we would have upgraded with Carlisle i.e double glazing, luxury electrical package, 6star zoned heating, colorbond roof, timber sliding doors, big timber feature windows, extra wide island bench, etc etc. Then we found tge Aegean 230 that fits us block perfectly, with a decent size backyard and a big side yard (irregular block), plus a his and hers WIR, big butlers pantry and understairs storage! And its more value for money, meaning its almost 20k cheaper ???
So we went in, got a quote for the house and Some of the upgrades we will be doing, which are:
Timber windows to front facade
Full front render
High ceilings to ground floor
Square set cornices
40mm stone to kitchen
Butlers pantry fit out with sink, overhead and underbench cupboards
Double front door entry
Floor to ceiling tiles for ensuite
Spa bath to ensuite
1st floor extension (wir to 2 bedrooms, increased sizes to all rooms, bigger bathroom and leisure, wir linen)
Evaporative cooling
Pot drawers to kitchen
Silk laminate to kitchen
Timber glazed doors to downstairs
Sliding door to ensuite
0.5m extension to study, theatre and laundry
Laundry fit out
Upgraded staircase to iron balusters
And everything came back within our budget. So the other day, we put in our deposit and looking forward to the rest of this exciting journey!
P.s unfortunately , we lost 1k from the non-refundable deposit for carlisle, and was hoping mainvue can give us some sort of credit or discount. has anyone done this? ? ? ?
