Browse Forums Building A New House Re: My first build - Celebration Homes - Brightwood Baldivis 121Aug 17, 2017 4:17 pm Thanks guys. I think I will leave both for now. They're both post handover projects anyway, but neither are particularly urgent. More of a re-sale attractiveness thing probably, so I can look into them down the track if/when required. As the theatre will have it's own aircon zone, the doors definitely become important for efficiency in that respect! First home builder - Brightwood Estate, Baldivis. Celebration Homes. Follow my build here Re: My first build - Celebration Homes - Brightwood Baldivis 122Aug 17, 2017 4:19 pm mrsdoe I'd think about what you're going to put in the theatre and long term how you guys will use it. I wouldn't have even considered an open theatre because Mr Doe is putting in projector, screen, speakers etc and I know the volume levels he likes to watch stuff at and it's usually during the evening after our five year old daughter goes to bed and we're panning another baby after we're settled in the new house so need to contain the noise. If you're only planning on using it as a lounge space with regular tv watching then doors are not a big deal but anything other than that I think doors are a good idea. Follow our build with Express Two Storey (Ventura Group): http://tinyurl.com/jlykgph It'll be my main lounge area to start with and it will only be me and (sometimes) my other half there. No kids or housemates makes it easier but I agree under different circumstances people would definitely need the room to be enclosed! First home builder - Brightwood Estate, Baldivis. Most of the tiling has been done, looks good! Hope you've started packing already I've been house sitting for much of the last 18 months so most of my things have been in storage anyway! Probably only a couple of boxes to fill and then everything is good to go. First home builder - Brightwood Estate, Baldivis. Celebration Homes. Follow my build here Re: My first build - Celebration Homes - Brightwood Baldivis 129Sep 12, 2017 2:56 pm Final inspection was put off, probably by about a week. The internal walls have remained too wet to paint. I'm glad they're not rushing that though. They need three days for painting, one for carpets and one for blinds then it's a wrap. I stopped by on the weekend on the way home from a camping trip and found the paving has been done and front render painted. Windows had been locked open to get some air flow happening - I thought they would have done that earlier to be honest. The warm days were good but it was causing huge amounts of condensation to appear on windows as it had nowhere to go. I've got a quote on the crossover and extending alfresco paving. Just need to wait until closer to handover before ordering pavers. I've also ordered (after weeks of procrastinating) my CCTV system and wireless alarm. Bought them online and will install myself/with some help from a sparky mate. I've got both for less than the cost of an installed basic wired alarm. Can always upgrade later. I'm also considering DIY skirtings. I can get a discounted rate on materials from a mate and another mate can fill and paint them. After the cost of buying materials and cutting gear I'll save approx $1,000. I figure I'll try a room at a time and if it doesn't work I can just get someone in to install the materials I've already purchased, and it will still work out cheaper than initial quotes. For the potential savings I'm happy to give it a crack. Happy to hear from anyone else that has done their own skirtings! Re: My first build - Celebration Homes - Brightwood Baldivis 133Sep 26, 2017 2:32 pm Had the final inspection this morning. Took about 1 hour 45 which was a bit longer than anticipated! There were plenty of red stickers for wall/paint touch ups but nothing significant. The garage door wouldn't close properly, and there was a slight leak on the veggie sprayer in the kitchen which seemed to be fixed by tightening but will be looked at nonetheless. Trades had helped themselves to a plug and my rangehood lights. Odd items to steal, but easily replaced. Besides that, there is a little cleaning and tidying to be done but definitely nothing major. All in all everything went well and I will hopefully get my keys next Friday (6/10) First home builder - Brightwood Estate, Baldivis. Celebration Homes. We had the bath plug go walkabout at our final inspection. Seems to happen a lot.
