Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our SS offered to replace it with a solid core door, however we wanted the patterned door so for it replaced with the same. Our garage is fully enclosed and with all our other security features in our home, we weren't too stressed about it being solid. It's interesting, the Australian standards say you don't require a solidcore door the the garage / house but the international building standards do (I know this isn't applicable is Australia) speaking with somebody in the know there is currently a push on to change the Australian standards to make it compulsory for a solidcore door to the garage / house. BTW Stanford's are available in a solidcore, I would have it for piece of mind. Re: My first build - Celebration Homes - Brightwood Baldivis 26Oct 05, 2016 8:35 pm Imightbedave Yeah I knew it didn't sound right. But both sales consultant and prestart consultant confirmed the price so.. I just said thanks but no thanks! I would ask them to justify the cost, you have the right to ask Re: My first build - Celebration Homes - Brightwood Baldivis 27Oct 05, 2016 8:39 pm Doozer1905 Imightbedave Yeah I knew it didn't sound right. As it turned out I couldn't afford any upgrade so it didn't bother me too much, no way I would have paid that though. First home builder - Brightwood Estate, Baldivis. Celebration Homes. I have my building permit Finance was due to be completed by about today, however due to a hiccup with my income I need to come up with a larger deposit which has delayed me by about 6 weeks. So early Feb I am hoping to have all boxes ticked - I do however have my conditional approval which is a step in the right direction! The builder and land agent have also agreed to extensions to accommodate this. Not that it will impact me - but also good to hear the FHOG has gone up to $15,000 in WA for new homes, and Keystart have also raised their income ceiling. Should make things easier for a lot of people! I'll update again in Feb hopefully! First home builder - Brightwood Estate, Baldivis. Celebration Homes. Follow my build here Re: My first build - Celebration Homes - Brightwood Baldivis 32Dec 29, 2016 10:21 am Good luck getting all those boxes ticked. The extra couple of months will help with savings and stuff. Things don't always go to plan. We thought we would have signed contracts back in October but a few more negotiations and contract variations saw us push our timetable out. Which isn't bad as now we are also paying for a wedding in Japan next year as well as building so the extra time to save more cash is helping I was slightly gutted to see that we missed out on the increased first home buyers grant. Finally got our contracts with the builder squared away earlier this month and are just waiting on the bank to approve finance (we already had conditional approval but they are dragging their feet over the festive period). Waiting is frustrating but part of the process I guess. I'm also going to be in the position of needing to save more for aircon, landscaping etc so I don't mind too much if it gets delayed.. just eager to get underway. And though unlikely, the threat of interest rate changes adds a bit of discomfort! Shame about missing out on the FHOG. $5k extra sure goes a long way. Fingers crossed all is on track for February still! I am also building in Baldivis, but through blueprint. We have our Clispsal & Intelligent Homes meetings on Monday. Do you have any prices from Intelligent Homes? One thing i want is the Ducted VAC. You wouldn't happen to know prices from when you went to Intelligent Homes? Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86182&p=1659694 Re: My first build - Celebration Homes - Brightwood Baldivis 37Jan 20, 2017 1:37 pm Hi Kayleighy, where in Baldivis are you building? Unfortunately I didn't enquire on the ducted vac so I can't help with that cost! But estimates on other items: Splitter in roof space (for later antenna install) - $60 Add TV & Network to Cinema - $399 Add TV & Network to Bed1 - $399 (these are in addition to a 3 point pack valued at $990 which came already included in my build, so costs may vary if you don't have that included already). Other things to remember is enough power points in the right places (future alarm for example), and conduits if you want to put in things down the track - such as extra power points or network connections, foxtel, tv antenna points, projector, wall mounted TV, dimmers on lights etc. Conduits mean you'll be able to feed cable through a pre-determined location within the wall, which means you don't have to damage the wall or have a visible connection running down the side of your wall. I think IH even mentioned that conduits are about $10 more expensive for them to put in, so just get the builder to do those - IH will still work with you to determine the best location etc. Hope that helps!
