Browse Forums Building A New House Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover Countdown! 1881Jul 28, 2017 8:50 pm Have another read of your contract so you are clear on what they can and can't claim and how and when they have to do it. I think he should have organised the gas earlier so that's his problem but see if there is anything in the contract about hold ups from suppliers. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover Countdown! 1882Jul 28, 2017 9:19 pm Yeah, I feel like the gas is on them. Whereas the variations might be on me. The contract is a little vague about delays.. just says they can claim additional delays where reasonable (above the delay days that are mandated). Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover Countdown! 1883Jul 28, 2017 9:27 pm aloenyx Yeah, I feel like the gas is on them. Whereas the variations might be on me. The contract is a little vague about delays.. just says they can claim additional delays where reasonable (above the delay days that are mandated). I think I might have read on here that they need to notify you in writing of the delay within a certain timeframe of the delay occurring if it's a standard HIA one. Check your contract. Don't quote me on it though. If they start to argue about it maybe offer to call it even on the alarm. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover Countdown! 1884Jul 28, 2017 10:17 pm I think I've read that too, but can't remember what my contract says. They definitely haven't notified me of any additional delays during the build. If they push the point, my goal is to at least get the alarm for free... feel like I deserve some reward for all my patience. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover Countdown! 1885Jul 29, 2017 5:23 pm Don't think we are going to see the house this weekend. I don't really mind as I don't think anything will have changed and with any luck I'm moving in next weekend *gawd I hope so, won't last another week here* It is so hard not knowing if I am moving for sure... I returned my library books today, because if I DO move I won't have time to drop them off... but if I don't move, I won't have anything to read for a week ;-; *stress* Hopefully I have a clear answer one way or another on Monday. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover this week?? 1886Jul 29, 2017 9:46 pm It's such a struggle not knowing if I am doing handover this week! I've had to prepare everything just in case it does happen, as I would then be moving next weekend... but... I MIGHT NOT!!! Arrrghh... You've been through a lot! Your house is gorgeous May once you move in it all be smooth sailing. And you can put the build and builders behind you. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover this week?? 1889Jul 30, 2017 9:27 am Thanks I hope it gets better once I move in. I'm really not sure about this week, I'm very stressed... if he hasn't called me by Tuesday I think I can assume its not happening this week.. which means I have NO idea when I will be able to get time off work to pick up the keys. I could probably send my dad to get them, but this is my house.. and after 3 years I want to be the one to get the keys. Just the thought of another week in this house... another week of waiting is killing me. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover this week?? 1891Jul 30, 2017 9:51 am I'm keeping everything crossed for you. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover this week?? 1892Jul 30, 2017 5:41 pm Thanks all. Either way we are planning to start landscaping next weekend. We will be putting up the side gate (if its ready in time) and blocking up some issues. Dad wants to lay the backyard turf, but not sure if its worth doing that until we are ready for the front yard and just doing them together as two delivery fees.. Anyone have turf recommendations for south east Melbourne? Only place I can find is $125 delivery... which is almost as much as the cost of the turf (only need about 20m2 for the backyard, and less again for the front). I so hear you about this. We haven't been going anywhere near as long as you but I won't be able to be there for PCI or handover. I'm on my last uni placement and that's been 3yrs in the making. 1 day off could mean not graduating. I sure hope you hear from the builder soon with final details! So stressed... too many decisions to make and things to do. Can't wait till things are sorted and can just enjoy the house. Their delivery fee was $70 and we can see it from our house so I'm guessing it would be more to your place. They charge a fee to load yourself anyway so delivery is much easier. That stuff is heavy!!! Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover this week?? 1899Jul 31, 2017 5:06 pm No news from the builder. Just kmn. Cheque is ready for pickup but had work so have to pick up tomorrow. Dentist driving me mad today, want to reschedule my Friday appt. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Build - Handover this week?? 1900Jul 31, 2017 7:33 pm Its been a very long hard day, but no house update. Maybe tomorrow. How much was Anco turf Kat? I can't work out their website. ;-; Put in an order for the DIY Cat Run today, $500 for materials.. hopefully it works out when we put it up. I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15352 I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 17112 Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built. Also have a… 3 11737 |
