Browse Forums Building A New House Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2581Oct 14, 2017 7:03 pm Thanks Rural! He seemed happy enough today so we will see how he goes. I actually find my ragdoll even though she's long haired to be kinda of hypoallergic. I can rub my face in her fur without any issues (I'm not particularly allergic though I wouldn't do the same thing with my bunnies or my other cat otherwise I will get very sore eyes!). Cute is definitely key!! So many cute kitties out there. Speaking of cats Panda is trying to steal my cheese sandwich.. why she wants cheese is beyond me. I'm glad you prompted me about cat safe plants, been checking all the ones I buy now I bought two cordylines (indoor not the same as my outdoor ones), mum got me two palms and I also got a little micro orchid. I put the plants all around the house and really feeling much more homely!! Just need some nice pots for them all. Only one I hate is the China Doll I got. I think it may go 'missing' XD Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2582Oct 14, 2017 7:38 pm aloenyx Thanks Rural! He seemed happy enough today so we will see how he goes. I think it may go 'missing' XD I can definitely appreciate the warmth and homeliness that plants give... I worry we will forget to look after them the way my mum does with her plants (very well!)... and they will die!! We will look forward to finding our new cat to go with our new house... eek! There are several dogs around the neighbourhood though... hmm. They better watch out! haha Follow our first house build here! -> https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86484 Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2583Oct 15, 2017 6:22 pm ruraldoc Losing any loved one needs a moment to pause... hope the pup's passing goes without any struggles! Otherwise, not sure about what kind of cat. Wife has cat allergy so short-hair seems to work best. Definitely not a hairless one though. We just want a cute one! Plants are tricky for pets I guess because what doesn't poison us may poison them! I just noticed how leafy it is which I thought cats might like rubbing their face on. I doubt they will chew on it! Rural, don't ignore longhaired cats! My husband is allergic to cats and my parents ragdoll and my Siberian were much kinder to his allergies even though they are long hair! Whereas my parents also have two normal alley cats which are short hair and they trigger his allergies really bad. I have heard Siberians are low-allergenic (and they are very loving and beautiful!) Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2584Oct 15, 2017 6:58 pm Another long day today!! I'll share some landscaping photos in a minute, but have also been busy getting plants and pots for the inside!!
None of the indoor plants have actually been potted yet (ran out of time), but this is basically how they will look. Will probably get more, LOVING the plants around the house and the feeling. Entryway A nice palm which will hopefully grow and shade the sidelight. I will eventually put some cut flowers in the blue vase and hoping my rug turns up this week!! (I think only one or two days left to finish off the front and the back).
We painted the front porch to medium grey to match the driveway and pavers. Finished planting out the garden beds and put some retaining in along the path. Also put some mortar/grout on the pavers (which still needs to dry and be washed off so they will change again). Did a heap of weeding XD Not much left out the front, dad is hoping to finish off the front fence next weekend and I need to do the garden bed edging on the front two beds. Now thinking of using plastic jarrah stuff to match the red retaining wood colour.. Anyways on to photos!! Front of house (stupid streetlight!!!) I want more!!! I do want one in the laundry, and I have some ready for the study.. just waiting on the desk to be delivered before I set up that room. I also have a micro orchid in the en suite that I didn't photo.. thinking I'd like a big orchid for the main bathroom... might wait till after my house warming before buying anymore though, cause don't know if anyone is going to gift me plants XD Backyard is close to do, just need to replace the lillipillies and frangapanis.. and finish off the side garden.. I managed to score from $3 lavendar from Bunnings D I'm planning to put it into pots along the cat run to keep mossies away. I can’t put any of my plants on the floor, they were all plant types poisoneous to dogs that I bought before I brought mischa home, so i have to keep them all elevated on benches or tables until she’s past the teething stage And i like what you’ve done to the patio out the front, its great!
