Browse Forums Building A New House Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1561Jul 05, 2017 12:49 pm Not really. I deal with the three directors of the company, I was dealing with one gentleman from start to December, and then this guy took over from then to now, he's the only one I've spoken to in 6 months. I did ask him who I could talk to while he was on leave, and he said, just email me and I'll get back to you when I can. But he did say he was expecting the gas meter to go in Mon/Tues, then he would get surveyor out, get the COO and arrange PCI on Friday... but knowing my luck it may not happen. Either way I'm going down to the house on Friday. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1562Jul 05, 2017 12:51 pm Ok you've just answered my Q's while I was typing Fingers crossed you hear from them, it must be enormously frustrating to not be able to get it sorted while you're on holidays. I hope you are enjoying the break from work regardless! Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1563Jul 05, 2017 12:59 pm Fingers crossed for you here too Dawn. Hoping you get a suprise e-mail today or early tomorrow booking it all in! I'll keep hoping... there's still 2 and a half days to go till the end of the week. *Fingers crossed* Just desperately wanting in this house ;-; It is, as I now need to find time to get my braces off, do handover, move, get my shutters installed, things delivered... all while doing 6 hour a day workshops at work everyday for 6 week s(which means getting no time off, if anything I'll be doing lots of overtime), I'm stressed just thinking about it.. and on top of that my bunny is sick, and I think the kitty is sick too.. life is so hard these days. If would be helpful if at least PCI can be done while I'm on leave.. I thought my leave would give me time to just relax and destress, but I'm so nervous about going back to work on Monday and I think I might be even more stressed!! Might have been better if I had moved them to September, but nothing I can do about it now. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1565Jul 06, 2017 10:18 am I feel for you Dawn... try not to stress too much. Your fur babies are probably picking up on your stress too. Hope you get some good news soon... waiting for an email is mega frustrating! ❤️ - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1566Jul 06, 2017 10:48 am Feeling you on the animal stress; we're staying with my mum during the build and her dog has taken a major dislike to one of ours. Lots of fights, bites and blood, and I feel terrible for my poor pup. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1567Jul 06, 2017 10:51 am Thanks Yeah, waiting for email is driving me crazy. I'm checking through deleted and junk folders in case I somehow missed it (even though I know the builders emails have never gone missing beore) and I even jumped in to check my work emails in case they accidentally sent it there. I'm stressed that Thursday is half over, and nothing.. changes of doing PCI tomorrow are slim. If I can't officially do PCI tomorrow, still going to go down there and do my own sort of PCI, going to see if I can break inside and write down all the issues, check everything against the quote to see what is missing, etc. I also can't want to see the finished render Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1568Jul 06, 2017 10:56 am blackcat20 Feeling you on the animal stress; we're staying with my mum during the build and her dog has taken a major dislike to one of ours. Lots of fights, bites and blood, and I feel terrible for my poor pup. Oh that's horrible! I think that would be a deal breaker for me, but I don't know what I could about it.. can any of your friends look after your pup for awhile? Pets are definitely causing me great stress. The kitten is probably the worse, because she's a bit sick..she get into everything!! (and this house is not kitten proof), I'm constantly getting in trouble for her climbing curtains, flyscreens, leaving footprints in the bathroom...plus now I'm terrified she will go over a fence and disappear, I already found her on top of one of the sheds yesterday. Plus she just seems unhappy... she needs more space and attention. Plus my parent's older dog keeps snapping at her My older cat is okay, but I always worrying about her, because she goes wandering during the day, but its hard enough keeping the kitten here let alone my older cat... just pray she isn't hit by a car or something before we move and I can lock her up. Plus she's getting fat!! I want to restrict her diet, but really hard with all the other animals food around. And then my poor bunnies, they have no space, can't even be together in the house (separate cages) because there is just no room left.. I hate them going outside in case they get sick or something, but its too unfair to have them locked up all the time.. In the new house they will have a massive enclosure with a big play castle.. Just need this stupid house. *grumpy* My holidays are nearly over, and so far, all they've done that I know of is rendering.. I thought that I might be moving in week after next, but now I'm thinking August?? Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1569Jul 06, 2017 11:04 am Oh living with parents and animals absolutely doesn't work. My boy cat Frankie is super fat and cranky now. Girl cat Stella hates the dog and stresses Frankie. The dog Tux keeps snapping at Stella through their cage. I tried the leash thing with them. It didn't work. Tux got in Stella's face and she latch on then he tried to eat her so she attacked me. I have teeth puncture mark scars up my arms and legs from 6 months ago. It can't be too much longer now though. Just keep your head up and think happy thoughts. Panda will be sliding around those lovely new floors and up your new blinds in no time! Building our forever home! She's going to totally destroy my house XD At least the younger dog gets along really well with both cats, and the cats get along each other. Its just a bit crazy at the moment, my parents house is smaller than my new house, and we have 2 rabbits, 3 cats, 2 dogs and some fish XD Plus my mum, dad and me. My cousins live 4 doors up the road, so we are all very much immersed in each others lives. It's not so bad in summer, but with winter, everyone is basically confined inside the house and we got on each others nerves pretty quickly. I just need a light at the end of the tunnel...if I knew it was say 3 weeks, then cool.. its the not knowing. I'm not particularly happy with my builder, since even in March/April he was saying just 2 more weeks, which given where we are at now he KNEW that was not the case and wasn't honest bout it... if he had just said in March, actually its gonna be June/July, I could have lived with it.. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1572Jul 06, 2017 4:11 pm :-x:( So frustrated for you. It's beyond me why they would be content letting it drag out so long when you're already past contract date. I don't know how I would handle it if I was in your shoes, I'd be ready to flip my lid, thats for sure! Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1573Jul 06, 2017 4:16 pm You'd think it would be in their best interest to get the PCI done so they can issue their final invoice and get paid and also avoid extra penalties Our build thread with Smart Homes for Living in Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86092 Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1574Jul 06, 2017 4:23 pm I'm just torn. I want to get in my car and just drive away... and just keep going... or break down in tears. I'm so lost. I've spent two weeks sitting at home, hoping to at least do PCI. ITS @!@# JULY!!!!!!!!!! 3 years since I bought land!! 3 years of my life wasted... just waiting.. I've had to put off changing jobs, going on holiday, having kids... I'm just stuck in a life I hate. I feel like I'm being punished, but I don't know what I did wrong... I gave my builder everything he needed, tried everything I could to get things ready as soon as possible, I've paid every invoice immediately without even seeing the house for myself, I'm never raised my voice, said a mean word to them, I've just smiled and nodded and hoped for the best... I researched them, I reference checked them, I avoid the big bad volume builders... I can't really explain how angry I am, how disappointed.. so tired of reassuring myself that its just a few more weeks... I really don't even want the house now. If someone said they'd give me my deposits back in full and I could just walk away, I would. I keep thinking if I dropped dead tomorrow, my life would have been for nothing.. Sorry guys.. just.. I don't know what else to do. Re: {dawn} SE Melb Build - 40 of 27 weeks and counting 1575Jul 06, 2017 4:23 pm I would have lost the plot by now, hats off to you, you're so patient. I don't know how you have lasted this long. I think it's time for you to lose your sh!t and politely advise them enough is enough. This has dragged out far too long and is beyond a joke. Volume builder or small local builders, it shouldn't matter. It's been almost an entire year just building your house. And no offense to you, it's a 3 beautiful bed house, not a damn mansion!
