Browse Forums Building A New House Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After 😀 2641Nov 04, 2017 8:52 pm I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I was not there for any of my dogs final days, due to different circumstances. I hear ya on the end of an era thing. I also lost my bandit bunny too early in 2010. He was only 4 years old. It is hard to lose them, but its worth going through it just to have them. We've been quite lucky with our cats and dogs, usually they live very long lives. Bunnies has always been a little harder, with Myxo and all. I think my parents will get another dog, maybe after Xmas. Would be good for them. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2643Nov 05, 2017 6:27 pm I had multiple pets growing up. We had about 15 cats through out my entire childhood, the last one my parents had when I was living with them lived to be 15 years old, but most of the others had short lives I have two cats now, only is 11 years old! (I can't believe she is that old) and the other is 1. They are like children and apart of the family. We had 3 dogs too, and the occasionally rabbit, guinea pig and birds! Cows and chooks for awhile too. Looking back it must have been like a country zoo hahah Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2644Nov 05, 2017 7:13 pm Haha.. my childhood was like that too. Only 3 dogs, and 2 cats, but lots of bunnies, birds, frogs, yabbies and such XD Now I have my two kitties and two bunnies. Panda won't stay off my roof, and because the neighbor houses are so close she gets onto their roof too. Going to give me a heart attack. So dad is installing a screen tomorrow on the outside of the cat run to stop her climbing up it. I'll take some photos to show Also going to do a big garden day tomorrow, bought a new lawn mower, vacuum blower and whipper snipper. They are electric battery pack ones, so easy to use for me. Got a nice price at Bunnings, $550 for all 3, saving about $250. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2645Nov 06, 2017 4:06 pm Another day in the garden today. Can I just say I kind of hate this house? Just seems to be all these little issues throughout that drive me crazy. Plus the land being so not flat has made everything so hard!! My builder has a lot of answer for. Wonder if I could move?? XD So anyways, here's the front after playing with my new power garden tools XDD Mowed, and all that. I hate the steps. Hateeee them. I hate the streetlight. I hate the marks on the render. I hate the driveway. Hate that the side gate is not quite right. Hate that patchy grass that won't go green Anyways, thankfully I dont spend much time out here. It was too flimsy, and the concrete isn't flat.. and nothing lines up So still have to deal with Panda climbing onto the roof.. and found out one of the rabbits chewed a hole in the bottom of the cat run So put it up in the cat run outside the kitchen window, since we couldn't return it and it cost $180!! I'm going to use it to hang pots with herbs.. make a view outside the kitchen window. Also, do you like the tulips? I bought this from Bunnings, you just add water and get tulips!! Wasn't my original plan, I wanted something higher.. but these came free from mum's garden Some clivea and birds of paradise. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Backyard...Hate the grass. Hate the fence. Need something for the pots.. hate them too XD Hate the non flat boring concrete. Wish I could have afforded to upgrade to the aggregate. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm such a grump lately. I do like the design, and a lot of the indoor colours, etc.. but outside is doing my head in. And I'm so exhausted by all the things that still need to be one .. with no money!! Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After 😀 2646Nov 06, 2017 7:46 pm The tulips are pretty cool! I think gardening is one of those things that require a little patience unfortunately. Your grass is looking heaps better already, give it a few more weeks and I bet it’ll look even better Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After 😀 2648Nov 06, 2017 8:09 pm aloenyx Hehe.. yeah patience is not my strong point. I'm not good at waiting for things, rather do them myself XD I completely understand- especially with the length of time your build took, it would be nice to have everything sorted and nice straight away! I think I’m gonna be growing all my grass from seed, it’s gonna suck. Haha Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2651Nov 09, 2017 7:15 pm Next door's frame went up today, very noisy!! I'm a bit shocked at how close their house is to mine. They seem to have 1.5m between the back of their house and the fence. The only good thing is, their house is not directly behind mine. And the house next to them is actually facing a different road, so there's no house there, just backyards.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ You can see how close they are to my couch XD Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here's the tulips after two days. Looking pretty. Come do mine What a clever kitty getting on the roof poor Mumma Dawn!!! Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2654Nov 10, 2017 10:19 am Umm....no. Sorry :p if i ever build again I will put aside enough to pay someone to come and landscape for me. Its so much hardwork and Im so picky!! Panda is giving me reflux because all the houses are so close, from my roof she can get to the other end of the street...and while shes fearless shes also dumb. Keeps trying to take on crows that are twice the size of her. Silly cat. We did buy stuff for a second attempt at the gate. $250. so broke thanks to this house. Also will hopefully get my study furniture next week, and front fence finished. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2655Nov 10, 2017 6:30 pm Hey Dawn just checking in. So engrossed in my build I haven't checked out your awesome ongoing landscaping improvisation! I like how you changed the purpose of that screen! How silly that your rabbits chewed out the net... can't live with them can't live without them! Follow our first house build here! -> https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86484 Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2656Nov 10, 2017 7:01 pm Haha, I know they are all monsters. Between the cats and bunnies they've stripped one of my magnolias back to a stick I'm going to have to get some tree guards until the plants get bigger. Thanks. I think the screen will look good once I get some hanging pots to go on it and some herbs Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2657Nov 10, 2017 7:08 pm How gorgeous is this girl? My beautiful Cassidy and the best behaved of the lot XD Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Next door got their roof today! So quick, their frame went up in two days!! This photo shows you my back skyline So their house takes up that whole side, gosh seems so close!! Glad I have high fences.. and then the back of the house on the left side is there. Thankfully between the two will be nothing, as that is the house on the lefts backyard. Forgive the mess XD Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Close up And of course my angels playing. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2658Nov 12, 2017 4:02 pm Another big day in the yard today. Also went for walk around the estate for the first time since moving in XD.. so lazy.
Found these on my travels, exercise machines in the park!! How cool. Why did I pay to join the gym?? I think the estate is going to be pretty awesome once all the pubic works are done, and most of the house construction is complete. So many people not following the guidelines Feeling much better about my front yard after seeing some of the others around here.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Park Lots of townhouses going up around the park areas. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Backyard Put mesh around my magnolias. Turns out my bunnies are opportunistic, as soon as I ripped out the lillipillies they started on the magnolias Hopefully they can start growing now. Was hard work putting up the mesh!! Hot day today. Proud of myself for doing it all on my own Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Finally put something in those pots. XD Decided not to go with frangapanis after some professional advice, not enough sun there. Instead went with dwarf citrus. Orange on the left, lemon on the right. D Can't wait to get some fruit. Looking much nicer out there now. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the orange. I just love em.. Going to put it at the front, on the side, so it should get east and west light. Hope it lives!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So it was a big day, but got some more stuff done!! Also planted my mini orchid into a bigger and bought a little 'grow your own' strawberry kit. Excited to see if they grow. Just have to do the herb garden in the cat run now and get this grass to green up. Re: {Dawn} SE Melb Custom Build - Ever After :) 2660Nov 12, 2017 6:48 pm Its looking great Dawn, so homely now We have those exercise machines at our local main park... ours aren't pretty purple thou... lol. I hope they do the estates gardens up nice like that... the original plan is nothing like what we have now. we have a few 'lakes' with some grasses around the edge of the water, no trees like the plan says and the weeds are so high! We were also supposed to get a playground.. but thats just a weedy area too! Hubby thinks the shire will be taking over soon so should be maintained by them soon enough.. Going to be annoyed if they don't put the trees and park in! I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15265 I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 17047 Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built. Also have a… 3 11631 |
