And another invoice Looks like a lot of windows are in too! Eee, now I really can't wait to get down and see it. Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Slab is down! 144Oct 18, 2016 5:41 pm Dawn your place will be finished by the time you get down to have a look haha! Your builder is flying! Yay, frames, roof trusses and windows!! How will the brickies go with being so close to your neighbours? GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 viewtopic.php?t=83643 Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Slab is down! 145Oct 18, 2016 5:45 pm I know! I'm actually worried it will be ready before I am... I have so much to do before I move in!!! I'm sure it will slow down now. Ooh, roof trusses, didn't notice those (no idea what they are either!!) Better decide what I'm doing about the mosaic tiles and email the builder soon, or they'll be up before I have a chance XD Mhm, good question. They better brick that side soon, cause if the neighbor does there's first will be an even tighter squeeze!!! I doubt we'll get a fence down between the garages. Maybe they will brick from inside the house? Oo; I trust they will figure it out. Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Slab is down! 146Oct 18, 2016 5:53 pm Roof trusses are the frame for the roof lol. I'm sure they know what they are doing and this happens often enough that they've done bricking like this before. Ooh better get a wriggle on with your choices GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 viewtopic.php?t=83643 Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Slab is down! 147Oct 18, 2016 5:56 pm I was staring at the picture for about 3 mins.. and I figured out it was the wood part for the roof XD I forgot that they sometimes do those separately... eee, I can't wait for lockup.. then I will feel like..phew, that's done. I'm so worried about my poor slab and frame out in this weather ;-; though I assume its okay. I didn't get an inspector, so just crossing my fingers. Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Slab is down! 148Oct 18, 2016 6:01 pm Congrats! Your build is steaming along now! Will be so great when you can get there to see it yourself! Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Slab is down! 149Oct 18, 2016 6:15 pm The brickies will lay the bricks from the inside. Most of the stages are fast. It only start to slow down after the lockup stage. Perhaps your may not make any difference because he is not a volume builder. Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Frame is up! 150Oct 18, 2016 6:48 pm Wow! Frames & roof trusses. Your builder is steaming along now. Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81011 Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Frame is up! 155Oct 19, 2016 6:53 pm Ha, no sorry Charley. I was being silly XD It just fees like its gone so fast the last few weeks, that I keep expecting news that its ready for move in. I reckon it will slow down now, probably get to lockup sometime next month or the one after. I'm gonna go visit this weekend, hopefully some bricking has started by then. Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Frame is up! 156Oct 20, 2016 5:51 pm Help! I need your opinions. My builder has asked me to confirm my colour selections (by tomorrow), so I have a small window of opportunity to ask for some changes if I want to. There are a few things that we're never 'selected', carpet colour, driveway colour.. and there are some decisions I'm still not sure of. So, tell me what you think: 1. Kitchen Splashback - Small white tiles laid subway style with a light grey grout. I'm really questioning the grout colour, should I change to white? I have grey/beige floor tiles and stone grey concrete pendants going into the kitchen, everything else is white. I thought the grey might be an interesting affect and make my kitchen more interesting, but now I'm worried it will look silly... help? 2. Driveway Colour - I know everyone goes dark blue, I was thinking more of a tan or light grey, what do people think would suit my exterior colours? 3. Natural Mortar - So I thought natural would be off white... its grey. Should I change or will natural be alright do you think? I have Boral Mocha bricks with roller mortar. I have a few other concerns.. carpet colours.. ceilings being builder's white and not a picked colour.. but I think I'll only be able to sneak in small changes without more cost XD The mosaic tiles.. I'm going to ask to remove them in the main bath and try for niche background only in the en suite. See what they say Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Frame is up! 157Oct 20, 2016 6:03 pm Boral Mocha off-white http://www.pghbricks.com.au/products/bricks/mocha Boral Mocha natural http://stormygirlscastle.blogspot.com.a ... chive.html Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Frame is up! 158Oct 20, 2016 6:22 pm Light grey mortar with the white tiles would look amazing! Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81011 Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Frame is up! 159Oct 20, 2016 7:50 pm I think I'll stick with the grey grout in the kitchen, and the natural mortar. I've just asked for the mosaic tile change... and specified driveway and carpet colours. I was tempted to ask about putting metal trim on the bath/shower niches.. but I hate to keep asking for changes. Re: {dawn} Custom 3bdr /16sq home - Frame is up! 160Oct 22, 2016 1:57 pm Hi All, Time for a photo update. Popped down to the block today to see progress on the house. Got absolutely soaked!! Had a bit of trouble making my way from the footpath to the slab, its a complete mud pit. So anyways, here's some photos!! This is the garage, and I think that on the floor is my guttering Much lighter colour than I expected, so hoping it looks good up on the roof. No roof tiles on site yet, so don't think that will be happening this week, but who knows! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is what I think was the living room window... I think they ordered it too small. Not sure what's under it... didn't see. Those are next doors broken tiles and bricks...at the top of the picture. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bricks!!! There's about 5 pallets on site, some at the front and some in the backyard. So here's hoping bricks go up this week. I thought the colour was wrong, but then the sun came out and it might be okay (and far too late to do anything if its not). This is Boral Mocha (almost every second house in my street has gone with this colour ). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Street shot. Oooh, looks like my garage roof is sinking in this shot. The two front windows are a really good size, they pretty much go to the floor. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not sure why this shot is sideways... opps. Anyways, this is where the living room window SHOULD go, looking out onto the backyard. I'm thinking that first pink peg is the end of my backyard... a lot smaller than I imagined. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Back wall of the house, dining room (with the sliding doors) and living room... hoping to have a lovely green backyard which will make the view nice... these are the only windows for the back end of the house, so I made them quite big. More of my bricks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is one of the minor bedrooms.. The window is huge!! The BIR are smaller than I imagined.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the main bathroom. This window was not supposed to be obscured but given that it looks right onto next doors bedroom, it's probably not a bad thing... so I'm going to leave it. The bath will be under the window.. and I think it looks like some plumbing has gone in. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the kitchen window. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the shower cutout in the main bathroom. I was under the impression the showers would both be 1200x900, en suite is, but this is 900x900. I don't mind too much, but wondering if I should check with the builder.. I did check the plans and it doesn't state anywhere what size it should be (so verbal only). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the ens suite window. I was thinking it would be translucent.. rather than bubble glass, but oh well. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Another shot of the ensuite. See, the shower is 1200x900. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is a view from the front.
