Hi everyone,
I have been reading in this forum for 12 months and learnt a lot. This is my first post.
I am building a new home and the slab stage was completed recently. I noticed that the builder has cut the slab at four locations to move pre-installed pipes. There is evidence that the alternations were not done properly and I raised the issue to the Engineer and building Surveyer (both were engaged by the builder), neither of them was aware of it. However, they both said it should be ok.
I consulted an independent inspector and according to him any slab alternation should be designed by the engineer and inspected by the building Surveyer. He asked me to discuss this with the building Surveyer and was reluctant to suggest what else I should do.
I was wondering if slab alternation is a big issue and if I should request re-work on the alternations.
I would appreciate opinions from anyone who has knowledge or experience with slab alternations.
Thanks
