Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 13, 2016 8:49 pm Hi all I am undertaking a KDR and was told that I will need to Cap and Seal the water services (sewerage, stormwater and water) before construction. The question I had was should this be done before or after demolition. My demolisher didn't seemed fussed. I have made several enquiries but was unable to find a consensus - some has advised me to cap the service before demolition and others advised after demolition. I think timing would make a difference to the costs in this instance because if it can be done after demolition, it will save on some excavation costs as the plumber will have to dig down to cap the services. so question is.. should I be doing it before or after demolition? Thanks! Re: KnockDown Rebuild - Capping Water Services 2Sep 13, 2016 9:13 pm Generally you only need to cap sewer services. I have done a few kdr's - best bet is to get the demo crew to expose the services while they have an excavator on site - & then get you plumber in to do the capping. if the original house is in good condition most of what you listed could be added in stages without the need for KDR and costs and disruption of having to live elsewhere… 1 13678 We have a Victorian style ripple iron fence out the front that has some moulded timber capping.
