Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 27, 2016 10:01 am I saw a thread about Village Square and thought it might be worthwile to have a seperate thread for those who purchased land and are building at the QVC.
We are still deciding the builders but are looking at the Omega29 with Jandson Homes. Some questions we are debating on that would I would like to have your input on (1) Ducted AC vs 2 split ACs and ceiling fans in bedrooms. We are looking at overall running costs in the long term and wether it would be cheaper to just have 2-3 split AC systems rather than fully ducted throughout (2) Colorbond roof vs tiled roof. Is there any benefit in going colorbond? (3) Cat 5 cabling, how much would it cost for a single storey home to have Cat 5 outlets. And with Power adapters that provide ethernet connectivity is it still necessary as long as you have enough power points? Re: Building at QVC in Edmonson Park 2Dec 30, 2016 10:02 pm Hi namhar, nice to meet you. We're also building in QVC Edmondson Park in stage 1. What stage are you in? If cost isnt an issue, I would go ducted as it looks a lot better than multiple split systems, but that's just me haha. I think builders usually charges around $130+ per run, will varies depending on your builder. If the power adapter you're referring to is Ethernet over Powerline, yes that is option provided the area you want the LAN connectivity has a powerpoint. I'm currently using one at the inlaws old house and it's working great. Thats great, we are in stage 2 along Wakeling Drive. I think it all boils down to running costs. I did some research and the newer ducted AC models are quite efficient and if you get your zoning done right and have 2-3 zones, then it actually is not that expensive in terms of running costs. Im leaning to just spending the money on more power points and just use the powe adapters for LAN connecvity. We have single storey house so dont really feel the need at present to go Cat 5. Has you land been registered yet? The latest I have heard for Stage 2 is now March (from Jan earlier) PS: I fixed the typo in the title after realising that I misspelled Edmondson Park! Re: Building at QVC in Edmondson Park 4Jan 02, 2017 2:16 am We're in Tannenberg road. With our previous house, we installed an Actron ESP+ with 5 zones. This AC is able to ramp up and down based on the number of zones you've turned on, but does cost a little more than the standard Actron AC. I guess it's best if you buy an ethernet over powerline adapter and try it out first, if that does not work out then you can still get ethernet cables installed at a later time, not too hard with a single storey. Our land was registered in September 2016, just waiting on builder and finalising the admin work before the build starts. Drove pass few weeks ago and saw one house started building already. So glad to find a thread for QVC. My wife and myself just bought a lot on Wakeling Drive. It is in Stage 3 i think and is due for registration in March 2017. Namhar which lot number are you on? Ours is 1112. Re: Building at QVC in Edmondson Park 6Jan 19, 2017 8:24 pm Hi all Happy new year! Great to hear from you Sam, we are in stage 2, lot 931. Hopefully it should get registered by Feb I agree with you Jordan, PoE works really well for me now and I am planning to use that for now We are planning for single storey so its a bit easier to do the mods afterwards if required. Re: Building at QVC in Edmondson Park 8Feb 01, 2017 6:29 pm Glad there's more people from QVC now. When are your builds starting? Ours should start around April I think. Looks like Casaview selling a few of the block as home and land package. We have already finalised our builder but till the land is registered and council approval sought it could be a while around June/July I reckon. Re: Building at QVC in Edmondson Park 12Mar 10, 2017 8:25 am dolphins That's good to hear. Congratulations! We fall in Stage 4. We were told Stage 3 & 4 will be registered together in March. I am guessing there will be a 2 month delay.
