Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 11, 2016 7:40 pm Hi There. We have just discovered that according to AS4773.2 there should be a 10mm gap beside our window frames as part of the CONTINUOUS articulation joints. At present the articulation joint is present in brickwork up until the bottom of the window frame, starting again in brickwork above the window frame. All brickwork is butted up against the metal frame of the window frame with no gap. I know that the articulation joints are there to help with brick growth and building movement but am trying to gauge how bad this is. I wanted to ask readers how serious they think this may be if not corrected by the builder and if anyone else has experienced the same problem? Sure enough when we checked out a nearby Metricon Home it had the movement joint beside the window frame as it should have (Good old Metricon!) Our builder has been a nightmare from the start and we are already struggling to get them to rectify the most basic of things on site, let alone get trades to site. We know we'll be in for a battle to get this resolved and are not sure if we'd ever get success at VCAT for such a matter. Months of raising concerns with VBA and Consumer Affairs about this builder have already sadly gone unheard. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Hi All, First time poster.
