Is this just a fancy way of marketing waffle slabs or something totally different? Does anyone have any feedback/info? Has anyone built with one? I'm already stressing enough about site costs. I'm wondering what the advantage is over a raft/waffle? Re: Fairhaven homes slab solution - please explain!! 2Sep 08, 2016 8:05 pm I'll ask our SS about it and let you know what he has to say. I did a bit of research today and and the company behind it is called polyvoid it all looks good. I am pretty sure my soil will come back as H1 or H2, hopefully it will be a cost effective way to keep my site costs down. I hate the unknown I would have fixed if they had been reasonable, I really wish I could find out before colours so I can stick to budget . Fairhaven homes slab solution - please explain!! 7Sep 21, 2016 1:35 pm Kat_1025 This was fairhavens recommendation to us as our block has a lot of fill and to find clay they have to go down approx 2m The piers added 11k to our cost Ouch that hurts! I would rather pay a little more to know I'm better protected against future slab heave. I have budgeted 12k, I am lucky that my block only has a fall of 300mm and less than 10cm of fill, it's one of the reasons I chose it. Re: Fairhaven homes slab solution - please explain!! 9Sep 21, 2016 1:47 pm Kat_1025 The fall wasn't what got us.. We only got stung a couple of thousand for earthworks but the slab/piers were the big one Did you get given a fixed site cost when you got your original quote? Was it higher than waiting for soil tests? Maybe I should have gone with fixed Re: Fairhaven homes slab solution - please explain!! 10Sep 21, 2016 1:49 pm They wouldn't give us fixed due to the fall and backfill on the block so we had no choice but to wait... They do have high fixed costs to cover themselves though. I can't see it being more at tender unless they find rock etc Thanks. I wish there was a youtube video explaining this concept. 10 27139 We are looking to do a KDR with fairhaven homes, Have seen plenty of good reviews about them pre construction and plenty of negative reviews about them during contruction… 0 18027 Hi We are building in the Hunter Valley, our soil test is H1, our builder has advised us they need to have a letter signed for Fair Trading as the new drainage standard… 0 3540 |
