Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Metricon - Building Contract - subject to finance clause 2Sep 02, 2016 9:35 pm You should just be able to tell them to add it. Majority of contracts would be subject to finance approval I would've thought. Re: Metricon - Building Contract - subject to finance clause 3Sep 02, 2016 10:05 pm Thanks for taking the time to reply. I would have thought it would be a standard clause as well, but strange as it seems, apparently it isn't. We have been dealing with an independent builder whose contract does not have such a clause included, and he seems to be trying to pressure us into signing without adding it. When I googled the topic it appears we're not the only ones to one up against this. We're investgating options in case we decide to go with another builder. Re: Metricon - Building Contract - subject to finance clause 4Sep 02, 2016 10:29 pm Most of the time its not included, same with normal sale contracts for house purchases - you need to ask to add it. If you tell your builder you may walk without it they may just add the clause. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: Metricon - Building Contract - subject to finance clause 5Sep 03, 2016 1:33 pm It's ridiculous. Because how are you going to pay for it if your finance isn't approved? Always be prepared to walk. A small amount of time and money is always worth losing compared to the big picture. If your builder doesn't want to add it I would get a lawyer to read over the contract before signing. As he may have slipped some other clauses in there that only benefit himself. Re: Metricon - Building Contract - subject to finance clause 7Sep 04, 2016 8:30 pm Mine didn't have it either, I went with a small independent builder, but my builder was happy to write it in for whatever time frame I wanted, 14, 21 days whatever.. my bank actually went over by about 4 days but the builder wasn't fussed. Re: Metricon - Building Contract - subject to finance clause 8Oct 05, 2016 7:50 pm Hi Buildnew Just wondering how you got on with this? We are going to be in a similar position in the next few weeks so would be great to know if M facilitated you. Thanks! Re: Metricon - Building Contract - subject to finance clause 9Oct 06, 2016 12:13 pm Hi A+C, We were only asking about Metricon in case our chosen builder would not include the finance clause, but they did in the end. I'm sorry I can't help you with Metricon ' s policy in this regard. Good luck with your contract and build, hope all goes well. Unless there is something in special conditions the builder does not have to give you timeline.
