Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 28, 2016 10:04 pm Hi all, we bought a block of land in the foothills of Adelaide several months ago and are seeking some feedback from anyone who might be able to help out. The land development was surveyed and set out earlier in the year, with roads/footpaths and other associated infrastructure installed shortly after that. Just before the land was released for sale, we noticed an area almost directly in the middle of out allotment that had been pegged-out with several star droppers and had orange bunting flags roping it off. The rest of the allotment was just dirt but the area within the flagged-off area was green grass. Soon after the bunting was removed but the star droppers remained. When I queried it with the development company I was told it was a "Temporary Survey Marker" and was nothing to worry about. My concern was that there were no other similar areas on any of the other surrounding blocks, and it appeared there was a borehole drilled in the middle of the grassy area, with the ground quite soft under foot. I've attached a couple of pics, can anyone offer any suggestions as to what this might be? It is important this is not disturbed so temporary fencing is erected around it to keep construction equipment away. Consequently it is the only undisturbed ground on the site. This means you can probably see the original ground, complete with grass. I suspect the borehole would be a trial borehole as part of the developers site investigation. It might have something marked on there, like a reference survey mark or something like that? I'm just looking at our street initial survey plan and taking a guess we aren't far from you, I recognise those foothills!
