He was in the British Air Force for a while, and was passionate about all things aviational (...is that a word?? ) He was also a glider pilot (instructor) We had a plane put on the plaque at his gravesite, and the inscription "Flying where neither Lark, nor Eagle dare" Seeing your planes , I can just imagine his eyes lighting up!!!
Good luck with your new house plans! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Look elsewhere!!!! 64Aug 10, 2008 8:40 pm kexkez oo takes me back to being 12 again. I used to build and fly those stringline ones. never did get beyond it as my best gf's used to give me such a hard time about being a tomboy and I never had the $ to spend. I was just telling my youngest about them the other day. blahhh britfix, balsa and ever so much tissue paper and clear gloss estapol? was it.. hmm sorry it was such a long time ago. the radio controlled ones were just coming in then. I started off on balsa sheets glued together with PVA and a bit of lead in the nose as cheuck gliders and moved on to control line. did not get into radio control till I was 30. Cash flow of course! Well dont be put off about being into models etc, my wife flies and has her own plane too though it is only a little trainer. Britfix was for the plastic models I think, tissue and dope were the coverings then. Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Good luck with your new house plans! hi Petal, thank you for that, I do hope your Dear Old Dad does get a smaile on his dial up there. I'm sure he is telling many a tall tale with his pals no doubt. He will li,ke the old RAAF motto "Per adua ad astra" "From adversity to the stars" Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Look elsewhere!!!! 66Aug 10, 2008 10:57 pm one word of warning Peter.
Don't take the basin in the display home. It is useless. Look at another option. Try to wash your hands in it tomorrow Jo's reasoning behind the shower is right that's why we did what we did. If I had my time over again, I would do mine like Jo's (love it) apart from the sliding door. Not my cup of tea and more money to spend to cover it. The other thing I would have done differently was the use of the void between the hall and butlers panty. While my u shaped shevles are good I would have investaiugate the option of built in cupboard for coats, umbrella Etc opening into the hallway. Or a really nice fish tank if that' s your thing What facade are you looking at? Anne Grandview 36 on Beautiful Bribie Site Start Dec 5th 2007 Projected completion May 12th 2008 NOPE Handover 24th June 2008 Moved in 11th July 2008 Wating on one final thing - Still - Oct 2009 Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Look elsewhere!!!! 67Aug 10, 2008 11:50 pm Hi Anne,
will have to look closely at all of that tomorrow. We will be working closely to get the options and the look we want, always a way to sort these things out just depends on how much cash you are prepared to waste in the effort. hmmm well I se no point in a void, should be able to use it for something. Maybe a wine rack area!! Wea re looking at the cosmo facade. Cant beleive it that the base price has gone up by nearly $30k since you signed up. What a joke. Anyway I have just spent the last 12 hours rebuilding this PC ofter the recent hacking attack. I know who the person is too, should sent the bros around to have a chat grrrr cheers Peter Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Look elsewhere!!!! 68Aug 12, 2008 7:57 am we had a good meeting with our SC yesterday, all went well. Just waiting on the numbers to come back now.
Here I acouple of pics of the new Northlakes display Gradnview, this is the exact facade we are looking at doing and colours are similar too. We looked at the sink in the display home at Wakerly, no issue for us and will be adding one into the other loo too as I can not see Mr Mischief running accross the hall to the bathroom to wash his hands. I would suggest people should think carefully about using a company with such an attitude. Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Look elsewhere!!!! 70Aug 12, 2008 10:16 am Peter,
If you're interested, go onto the M website and click on Victoria as your preference. They have a plan up for a grandview 37 (it's not on for QLD ) and it shows a slightly different set up for the pantry, toilet, bathroom and Bed 2 wir robe area. Might give you some ideas. It makes the toilet a true powder room. If I went this way I'd put a bank of cupboards across the back of the pantry facing into the hallway. I love cupboards. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? That's beautiful - we're trying to work out where we can use some of that on our place (prob outside fire place). about AVJ! Looks ok but dont think it will fit into the 36 without changing too many other things. We can live with what we are thinking of I think. Had a closer look at it today and to be honest I really do not like the design of the 37. ta cheers PEter Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Yes we are getting it priced in. Got to wait for the numbers to come back then we will know for sure what we are doing. I'd love to still do the Newhaven but the numbers are just killing our budget Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Look elsewhere!!!! 74Aug 19, 2008 3:46 pm no real progress to report.
Went through the walk through options pick with SC couple of weeks ago, we finally got the first cut of that pricing over the weekend and it contained many TBA on the $ so waiting on M head office to come up with those numbers. We did our due dilligence on the options and variations documents and found many, many errors and ommisions. think our SC is totally overwealmed at the moment. anyway we went right over the docs and put together a spreadsheet that is a verification matrix to ensure nothing is missed and it also compares pricing from what we are first given to what is coming back so we can track price errors. I have told SC we need the completed pricing back no later tghen this Friday so will see what transpires. We were told though that all our changes are doable including all the changes we want to B1 and the ensuite. cheers Peter Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Look elsewhere!!!! 75Aug 19, 2008 6:39 pm Peter,
Great to hear that all proposed changes are doable. Quote: We did our due dilligence on the options and variations documents and found many, many errors and ommisions. think our SC is totally overwealmed at the moment. That normally happens. Wait 'til you have the tender/contract and you would find more errors there... from pricing to drawings (dimension and notes/labels, in particular). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! We did foind out today though that the 2 extensions under the eaves can't both be done. We can have one or the other so we are going with the bedroom one and wont be extneding the home theatre room under the eaves, instead we will extend it lengthways into the family room which had been extended itself by 1.5m. hoping to have pricing for both houses back Monday. Won't hold my breath though. Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Look elsewhere!!!! 77Aug 26, 2008 7:51 pm well still no pricing back, getting very frustrated and quite seriously thinking of walking away from this. Had a lengthy convo with the SC today on the ph. I feel for her as she is doing what she can but their head office seems to have rocks in their heads.
not only are they agonisingly slow but there estimates are simply way off the mark. One varaition we wanted I did due dilligence on and estimated myself, not I have over 10 years expereince as a project manager so know alittle bit about estimating. My bum pluck was $1200 - 1500. After I priced the material, added in labour and builder margin I got $1543. They want nearly $3500!! so not happy Jan!! And that is just on one of the line items, probably find similar things if I scratched depply enough in every other line item. No wonder these house double from the base price. mutter, mutter Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Look elsewhere!!!! 79Aug 26, 2008 9:11 pm That's normal! They make their money from insane markups! Re: Thinking of of building with M3tricon? Look elsewhere!!!! 80Aug 26, 2008 9:12 pm to go from normal gyprock in home theatre room to double layer of boral soundstop. I actually priced the sheets myself with boral, estimated the number required and added in labout and builder margin and i came in at half what they want
my BIL is a plasterer and I've worked with him on jobs so know what is involved. isn't a garage level with the rest of the house a given? pretty sure they 'came around' long time ago. if you have a flat block, the garage is usually level with the rest… 1 17525 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11584 Interested in getting either the Polytec Boston Oak or Palace Peak for kitchen cabinets. Looking at the Boston Oak ones, it appears that the colour varies significantly… 0 9168 |
