In our contract it says ceramic &/or glazed porcelain floor tiles as selected from Builders standard range to ground floor areas and that quote was $6435. Is that really just referring to wet areas in the ground floor?

Tiles are only standard in wet areas, even then the standard ones you get to pick from are not very attractive. Then main flooring is all out of your own pocket, there is no allowance for it. In that case I believe it'll be $6435 - $5xxx that you spent on title day. And you should get credit difference back. Our sales consultant added a provision for carpets, which i plan to do post hand over. I'm assuming that cost will be deducted from my final pricings. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 43Sep 08, 2016 3:44 pm Ouch! That sux sorry to hear that Was the $30k just on tile selection alone? Does that include tiles for entrance, living & floor to ceiling in all wet areas and laundry? Trying to figure out how much to budget for per square metre of nice tiles. Are the standard builders range of tiles really bad? Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 44Sep 08, 2016 7:04 pm dulie beac_faith dulie What tile allowance do you refer to? Yeah I was also assuming I'd get a credit back for the difference.. But in the variation it looks like they're charging me the $6435+$5xxx I've asked my CSC to explain it so hopefully we'll hear some good news soon. Are the standard builders range of tiles really bad? That's for studio M, tile and electrical all in. I'm still trying to get my CSC to explain these figures and if possible get a breakdown of the charges. The standard tile range are not bad to be honest but they only go up to 400x400mm in size and are ceramic. My husband really wanted the 600x600mm porcelain ones for the main flooring, so we've kept to the standard tiles for our bathrooms and toilets to save some cost. Here's a photo of the standard tiles I took at the tile studio in case you wanted to take a peek at the range Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 46Sep 08, 2016 9:14 pm beac_faith Yeah I was also assuming I'd get a credit back for the difference.. They might have given you a "Upgrade" cost on tile day. $5xxx does sound way too cheap to tile the entire house. Considering my titles cost came back to over $30k only. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 47Sep 09, 2016 8:44 am Oh ok, thanks for posting up a pic...the standard range looks pretty good....but yes, totally agree with you on upgrading to a larger format porcelain 600x600 tiles for the main living areas....well worth it. I thought it was too good to be true on tile day too. Oh well, we'll see what the CSC says. Can't believe we have to pay $600 for garage door motor and the remote controls. Did M really expect people to open their garage doors manually? Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 49Sep 09, 2016 10:26 am beac_faith I thought it was too good to be true on tile day too. It actually says that in your contract? Garage door motor and remotes should be standard if you didn't change anything. I had to pay extra, but that cause I added a extra garage spot. But the original double was all included with no extra charge for motor or remote. Nothing is stated in my contract regarding a motor but we assumed it was automatic because it's just such a basic necessity?! We actually didn't realise it until our electrical appointment and the staff brought it up, and told us to add it in at studio M. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 53Sep 10, 2016 2:43 pm Yeah that's so low. I just checked my Aunties Studio M pricing, she was also hit with the same item. Guess they rapped me enough with $21k for the triple garage that they didn't bother charging me for it. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 54Sep 10, 2016 5:59 pm Darn Was hoping it was a mistake of some sort. It's unbelievable. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 55Sep 10, 2016 6:14 pm Craigasaurus Yeah it would be strange without a vanity. If you put an additional one in the toilet you could leave the guest bathroom clean. I love having a clean room for guests to use that my kids haven't messed up. Lol. Sorry not sure how I missed this! Yeah totally agree with you but we were told how expensive plumbing is so we couldn't justify the cost of having another sink in there. I guess crossing the hallway with poo in hands are inevitable Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 56Sep 11, 2016 9:34 am beac_faith JLH222 beac_faith [quote="dulie"][quote="beac_faith"] Yeah I was also assuming I'd get a credit back for the difference.. Definitely dispute it with them. My auntie will be questioning them as well. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 58Sep 11, 2016 1:32 pm If it helps the designer inclusion level for QLD does not include a remote garage door clicker or motor, if you take the luxury pack it does. The designer pack excludes a lot and creates a need to upgrade every single thing. Some things you can add later like waterfalls to island benches (I can give you and dulie the stone boys number to sort it) anything outside like driveways, decking ect. Painted feature walls, tapware upgrades are insanely expensive and half the price at high grove or Reece. Window treatments are better value outsourced too. If you can exclude your appliances and add better quality ones I would do that too. It's so hard to know any of this stuff without building before. Depending on your SS you might be able to swing the painter some cash to do some features and the tiler to do a bit more if you fancy. I've noticed a lot of builds are now getting tiling to the wall behind the washing machine (have a look at the aus build at Albany creek, he got that tiling done and it looks awesome) the electrician is the biggest one, if you can find out who services your area and get on to them early you can save a bundle. I was allowed to speak to ours and did about $6k of private invoices through them, it would of costs us double otherwise, they also sourced the items I was after at trade. The biggest place to save money and getting better quality is flooring, if your having laminate and carpet get prices from other companies and the difference is amazing. If tiling get quotes but also add $2k for a screed bill, just incase the slab isn't perfect for porcelain tiles. HTH Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 59Sep 11, 2016 2:12 pm Wow! The freedom range here doesn't come with the packages you can get in Melbourne either, like the kitchen and bathroom upgrades. Everything has to be paid for. Base prices on houses here match Sydney too. Keen to hear from people in the area who have got KDRB done on whom they got the build from? Looking for recommendations.
