Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 23Sep 01, 2016 7:26 am beac_faith We had our tile and studio M selections yesterday and had quite a bit of fun, although having to deal with an episode of toddler meltdown but that was pretty much expected. I'm going to share about our tiles first. Main flooring (entry, living, dining, kitchen, butler's pantry, rumpus, laundry) is majestic limestone 600 X 600 mm. It's one of the affordable porcelain tiles that was within our budget It's sort of an ivory colour with subtle streaks of darker tones Wet area floors and walls (powder, WC, bath, ensuite) is Portifino Shell Shine 400 X 400mm. Ensuite shower feature wall we've chosen Woodline Vintage Brown 200 X 900mm Powder room shower feature wall and bath tiles we've chosen Simplicity Mocha Natural 300 X 600mm. Kitchen splash back in long skinny tiles 65 X 400mm, although these will only go at the sides since we're having a window splash back Total damage done at tile studio was $5360. Lovely selections - your main floor tile is rather similar to mine. We wanted glass too, but I heard it's hella expensive. Please share pricing once you get your quotes back. Might have to follow suit if budget allows. After expressing our wish for glass balustrades our SC recommended this, which is the most affordable one. I suppose it's much cheaper because it doesn't come with the stainless steel posts in between the glass panels. We actually had this priced into our contract (which hopefully wouldn't differ much from the final pricing) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ But I do have to mention that this price is only for the glass on the staircase downstairs leading up to the first floor. We would have loved to do glass on the first floor as well but that would be double the price. So for first floor we've chosen to do a dwarf wall instead of balustrades. We figured out that would be okay since guests can't really see what's upstairs anyway and a dwarf wall would also be safer for our young kids and most importantly it worked within our budget. Hope this helps. Am still looking over the samples of what we've chosen and making sure they will work together or make a change if we have to. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 26Sep 05, 2016 12:54 pm We are considering building the Metro 31 with the coastal facade so will be following this closely. Looks great so far.
May I ask what size land you went for....I'm leaning towards a 14x32 lot as it would give us nice bit of yard on the side. Also did your tiling costs include floor to ceiling tiles? The main major upgrades we are thinking about are: -2700 ceilings on both levels -Feature splash back window -Timber/glass staircase -Pillarless stacker doors -Floor to ceiling tiles in wet areas -Corinthian timber/glass doors for master suite & powder room -Square set ceilings throughout -Extended kitchen island with waterfall stone side Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 27Sep 05, 2016 1:06 pm Vantage_35 We are considering building the Metro 31 with the coastal facade so will be following this closely. Damn they must have heaps. Mines Katie, and my Auntie got Claire. So far, my Aunties CRA Claire has been so much better in terms of communication and keeping her up to date. Mine seems to always be behind and doesn't really give any updates on much. Been kinda dissapointed ever since it left our Sales Consultant Paul and handed over to the admin team, he was the BEST!! Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 33Sep 05, 2016 2:32 pm Sounds like there are many working for M. Been happy with mine so far. She's quite efficient at replying emails, usually within the same day and was very helpful especially when I had the brick colour dilemma. She got one of the staff at studio M to snap some pics of a few bricks and emailed them over to help my decision re changing to a darker brick. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 34Sep 07, 2016 2:29 pm Hi beac_faith! I'm so glad to see another Metro 32 finally! We are doing a knock down rebuild in Melbourne on a narrow block (12.3m X 45m). We are also doing the vogue facade. We've done all our selections and just waiting for report and consent to be approved by council before we move out and knock down. How did you go with adding a bigger window to the front? We were told no as the design team don't approve changes to the facade like that?! Crazy and annoying! Looking forward to following your build! Metro 32 KDRB Bayside Melbourne viewtopic.php?f=31&t=84012 Hi JLH!! Yes finally someone who's building the Metro with me! sounds like our timeline is pretty similar, I'm really looking forward to following your build. Right now we're just waiting on the final pricing for all the upgrades we've done at Studio M last week. Site start should be third week October (at least that's what it says on the contract). We mentioned doubling the size of the front window and the lady at studio M said if our CSC has approved (which she has) then it should be all right? I guess we'll just have to wait for the final pricing and details to be sure. Did you do any modification to the house design at all? Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 36Sep 07, 2016 5:12 pm I can't help but want to make a suggestion to add a small vanity sink in the downstairs toilet in the void next to it. Instead of someone having to cross the hallway to wash there stinky poo hands. Lol. Just a suggestion. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 37Sep 07, 2016 8:07 pm Craigasaurus I can't help but want to make a suggestion to add a small vanity sink in the downstairs toilet in the void next to it. Instead of someone having to cross the hallway to wash there stinky poo hands. Lol. Just a suggestion. I had the same thought like you. However both my hubby and SC thought it would make more sense to put the vanity in the same room as shower so 'guest can shower and do their teeth at the same time' so this was what we ended up with. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 38Sep 07, 2016 8:27 pm Yeah it would be strange without a vanity. If you put an additional one in the toilet you could leave the guest bathroom clean. I love having a clean room for guests to use that my kids haven't messed up. Lol. Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 39Sep 08, 2016 1:07 pm So we've gotten back our first variation post studio-M selection. I think I'm having breathing difficulties now. Apparently our upgrades are all going to cost us almost $30k extra which is double the amount we've budgeted for. Will now have the tough decision on what stays and what has to go. Does anyone know how the tiles allowance work and how our tile selection cost on the day is added on top of it rather than just paying the difference?? Re: Our new family home Metricon Metro 32 QLD 40Sep 08, 2016 2:03 pm What tile allowance do you refer to? Tiles are only standard in wet areas, even then the standard ones you get to pick from are not very attractive. Then main flooring is all out of your own pocket, there is no allowance for it. Keen to hear from people in the area who have got KDRB done on whom they got the build from? Looking for recommendations.
