But the good thing is that you're back with us now!! That's always my advice when customers find themselves in this kind of situation. If someone has hacked in, they will likely have left some trinkets which will be difficult / impossible to discover. You may still have key loggers, rootkits or other nasties there that cannot be detected, even by the best anti-malware products. My advice would be to re install Windows (presuming that's what you're using) and start again. Also, be aware that any backups you have made of data on the drive could also have remanants of whatever they did, so they should be scanned, preferably by multiple products (there's a fair few free ones out there). Sorry if this is all stuff you know, just trying to help out a fellow boardie! Not exactly sure what sort they were but it looks likeI have gottenthe last of them. I think they had some sort of remote access and with what they were doing they accessed files and chewed up all the bandwidth. Sorry if this is all stuff you know, just trying to help out a fellow boardie! well that was my thoughts too and really, really do not want to rebuild this thing. Getting the data off and scanning it is a no brainer, Ive now got about 4 decent proggies which should do the trick but the chore of rebuilding - eeekk will have to rethink that one. Re: I'm back - account hacked 28Aug 10, 2008 8:32 pm well I spent the whole afternoon and still going re-imaging this PC. It still isn't right, running very slow.
I blew the old image away and reformatted the HDD, lucky these Dell boxes have the facility onboard to enable this to be pretty easy. Not sure what is going on but it is driving me nuts. Not sure if it is some sort of conflict or a HDD problem that is bogging it down . . . Bloody computers grrrrr Re: I'm back - account hacked 29Aug 18, 2008 9:41 pm Hi!
