Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 25, 2016 8:06 pm I thought I'd start a thread for our much anticipated build. We are a family of 7 building our first home in South East Qld. We bought a gently sloping (haha) 1 1/2 acres block in March this year. It has been incredibly exciting as we were young parents and never expected we would be able to own our house. We designed our house ourselves and steared away from the project Builders as there was so much we wanted to change it didn't seem worth it. We were naive about how much we would spend in the beginning and quickly realised we didn't want budget specs, that we wanted nice things - like ceiling fans, lol. Some of our upgrades include 2550mm high ceilings Trio cornice and arctritrave Ducted airconditioning 4 coats dulux wash and wear with feature walls and wallpapering throughout. Rendering outside and stria board on Portico. Timber deck with 140mm timber posts. Ceiling fans and downlights throughout Sensor lights in wip and wir. 600 x 600 rectified tiles throughout with floor to ceiling tiling in bathroom and ensuite. Niches throughout Walk in shower in main bathroom (wheelchair friendly) 400mm stone bench tops with waterfall ends Soft close drawers in entire kitchen Linea internal doors Extra water tank Driveway Turf I'm working on landscaping ideas as we want minimal gardens as we don't have a lot of time for maintenance. Thinking of upgrading kitchen sink and am still undecided on vanities. Roof with be shale grey Render with be grey (of some description) Monument frames Stained front door Interior will be terrace white. Frames will be white on white Painting will be spectacular as hubby is a Painter and and has looked forward to do his own house for ever. I love spending time at out block and go out every few weeks. Re: Building our first house with Aspect Homes Qld 4Aug 25, 2016 8:11 pm We have just paid deposit to builder and should have construction drawings tomorrow. Into council next week and slabbed within the month.

Lol Re: Building our first house with Aspect Homes Qld 12Sep 07, 2016 1:55 pm So have been told next Tuesday earthworks will be happening. Pretty exciting. Hubby will meet him on site to get a bit more work done. Can't wait. Building our first house with Aspect Homes Qld 13Sep 11, 2016 1:53 pm Hello craigasaurus, awesome to see a build for a big family. Great floor plan, very versatile for your family. Very pretty area your building in, reminds me of the scenic rim area. Love the sink for the bathrooms, nice to see something different, we have the semi recessed ones and they are a pain in the butt to clean. Pretty splash back and pendants too. Best of luck for Tuesday Re: Building our first house with Aspect Homes Qld 14Sep 11, 2016 7:34 pm Thank you. I've put a lot of thought into making the house practical for cleaning. Except for the overall size, it's gonna take hours to clean all the floors. Lol. I dislike the recessed basins. We've had them in our last couple of houses and they're a pain to clean. Had to get a new soil report as the first one wasn't in the exact right place. It came back as a p site. Meaning we had to upgrade our slab and piering. We will 80 + piers. Lol. Plans were submitted to council today. Should have approval by the end of next week. Retaining wall to be done in the next week. Re: Building our first house with Aspect Homes Qld 17Sep 21, 2016 10:21 am Tribe7 Hehehhe yes I can agree with you on that. Cleaning up after so many is a never ending task. Did you decide to go with the high grove vanity? It's very cool. Yes we will go with the highgrove vanities. I love the tops they are so crisp. And the white gloss cupboards are nice too. Earthmover did a wonderful job at leveling out a big hump on our back hill that was dangerous to mow. Can't believe how high the ground has been brought up at the back where the deck is its amazing. So in love and just want to camp on our block but life must carry on. Re: Building our first house with Aspect Homes Qld 20Oct 10, 2016 7:01 pm So been a few paperwork issues slowing down our progress, but everything is going full steam ahead now.
