Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 24, 2016 11:23 pm Hi, Need urgent help My builder has changed window suppliers after I have signed the HIA building contract. I was suppose to be getting A&L Windows but now will be getting them made from a smaller Unknown company. Do I have the right to ask A&L Windows ? Thanks in advance. Re: Help! Builder has changed window suppliers 2Aug 24, 2016 11:28 pm Builders generally mention in the contract that they can change items depending upon availability or change the supplier. Read the fine print in your contract. It may not be in HIA but in a separate document. They must however notify you about any changes and will require your approval to proceed ahead with them. You can always refuse if you don't like new supplier but do factor in any delays that can occur. Re: Help! Builder has changed window suppliers 3Aug 24, 2016 11:41 pm Thanks Sunrays They actually didn't notify me about change of supplier, they raised a building variation for me to approve because the new supplier didn't have the specific size windows that I wanted. Yeah I will need to go through the fine print again cos my understanding was that they could substitute items based on availability but wasn't aware abt changing suppliers.
