Browse Forums Building A New House Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 881Aug 04, 2017 12:31 am M sent the carpenters around to my place to frame up the cavity for the built in projector screen. I could of got the screen cheaper after handover but I didn't want to muck around with modifying the frame like what they have done for me. During the admin stage I requested that they increase the depth of my alcove so that the projector screen would fit. Can't wait till Monday when the big picture people come to install the screen. Me and hubby were thinking of adding the same thing to our hallway. As there's a massive wall there which is the garage wall. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 889Aug 04, 2017 4:22 pm Fits the table perfectly. Imagine that! What is the wall size the projector is on and how far back is you couch? I'm curious to know whether I can fit a decent size projector and watch it comfortably (3.8m room) Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 895Aug 07, 2017 3:26 pm Congrats Vuster on achieving such a great result and getting your dream home. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come. We are just beginning the journey with Metricon to build a Hampshire 45. Doing selections next couple of months. Can you tell me are your windows timber or aluminium? Do you know if they are thermally broken? Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 896Aug 07, 2017 4:10 pm iceberg. vuster Projector screen is in. Can you tell me are your windows timber or aluminium? Do you know if they are thermally broken? Thanks stme, all my windows are timber. I don't know what you mean by thermally broken, I just know that most of them are double glazed. Timber doesn't seem to be anything special so I'm guessing the answer is no. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 898Aug 07, 2017 4:18 pm Wow!!! I'm in love!!! Do you need a live in cleaner because I'll put my hand up *has no cleaning experience* Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 899Aug 07, 2017 10:12 pm I wasn't sure if you had selected any aluminium windows. Aluminium can conduct heat and even when you have double glazed windows the aluminium can pass the heat through. So to avoid this the internal and external sides of the frame need to be seperated internally with some insulating material, hence the term thermally broken. But this won't apply to your windows as they are timber and don't have this problem. Projector and theatre room looks great. Which big picture people store did you go through? Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 900Aug 07, 2017 10:20 pm vuster Thanks stme, all my windows are timber. I don't know what you mean by thermally broken, I just know that most of them are double glazed. Timber doesn't seem to be anything special so I'm guessing the answer is no. All windows? I'm building a wooden house with way too much wood but the plan had at least the kitchen and pantry window as aluminium (which will probably leak heat like nobody's business). Thermally broken aluminium is a fancy name for aluminium window frame with a piece of insulating material wedged inside to reduce the heat loss. Problem is with thermal loss is like water it's path of least resistance. Patch on hole and your windows become the new weak point. It just never ends.
