I love the rendered look already I am learning a lot from your posts and from many others on this forum. Building is a stressful process from sourcing furnitures to councils to builder's issues. But in the end, hope your house turns out great I am sure it will, it's all worth it the effort comparing to buying an already built one. We have to be brave to take that next step of deciding which house to build and contract signing Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 62Sep 08, 2016 4:37 pm Taking shape beautifully! It does my head in how attached councils get to trees! My council is an absolute nightmare but I've never heard of anyone in my area having to basically pay the council thousands for approval. That's insane! C U S T O M. C O R A L. Just in time for the weekend. I guess things can progress nicely with the exterior now. I'm looking forward to next week as I expect the hebel will be installed for the rest of the house. Too much admin to deal with but hopefully it will be all worth it. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 66Sep 09, 2016 11:13 pm HI Vuster, Love the Bordeaux! such a elegant home. I am looking at building the 56 also,We are yet to see construction drawing, I was unsure how the mansard roof works and its bothering me! lol The roof tiles are pitched at 25(bottom half) and 32(top half) degrees with a flat tray roof in the middle. What are the alternatives to the bordeaux on your list? Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 68Sep 10, 2016 12:31 pm Thanks! big help !! So does it have box guttering for the flat roof? sorry just get my head around it! we are also looking at the Somerset! again it also has a mansard roof. Apparently there are a lot of Bordeaux's being built and the window manufacturer can't keep up. I had such a struggle getting colonial style Windows through M, I would have loved to have had these as an option but they must only be offered if you are building the Bordeaux. Welcome to our new Metricon Henderson viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81978 https://metriconhenderson.wordpress.com Thanks M and T. I was also considering the colonial windows for the side elevation since I'm on a corner block but opted to leave them as is. I initially wanted the arch windows on the side elevation but the price was ridiculous. The price for the colonial windows was much more affordable. I remember it was about 50-70K extra to make the sides looks like the front. i.e.arch windows, window mouldings, parapet eave and band mouldings, wrought iron juliets. Your house is looking good. It looks like our paths are aligned. I have the same pool as you.i.e fiberglass + grey colour. My windows were not all installed prior to me paying for the frame payment. I guess I could of made a fuss about the timing of the invoice but chose not to. I did ask the supervisor and he said things are left out on purpose to make construction easier. e.g. the roof of my alfresco has been delayed so that they can get access the 2nd level easily. I'm pretty sure they will send me the lockup stage invoice as soon as all the hebel and windows are installed. You could easily blow out your budget just with the windows. Interesting re: frame stage, we had no windows at all installed and received our frame invoice. That was ridiculous so I contacted accounts and told them there was no way I was paying for frame stage when not a single window was installed. They're still not all in but we have most of them now - the timber colonials look amazing! Will post some photos up on my thread but I am really regretting doing some windows as aluminium casement colonial - these don't look half as good as the timber and they cost over $3K per window. I tried to do these as timber but apparently M's window supplier doesn't do casement style windows in timber. Do you have any pics of your pool?? Would love to see it! Also - back to not all your windows being installed, I did hear that sometimes they hold off with some of the timber windows because there is a higher risk of damage if they install them too early. Can't wait to see your home finished - love the Bordeaux!! There are some photos of the pool on the first page of this thread. Here's a picture of the Somerset display in Glen Waverley which do look great. They were the timber colonial windows I wanted initially. I'm guessing yours is similar. At least the aluminum windows will be low maintenance for you over the years. Really enjoying viewing your photos of the house build. We're going over the Bordeaux details and I'm wondering whether you were able to upgrade the display home's feature ensuite doors and if so how much they cost? Also we've noticed the island bench's overhang is only 17cm, we're considering extending the bench to 150cm to achieve a 30 cm overhang but not sure whether this will be way too big! And the island seems positioned to the right of the kitchen area rather than the centre. Did you address this in your plans? Going over the fine details of the plans have really done our heads in lol Also one last question, do all the closets in the master WIR come with mirrored sliding doors as standard? The plans only point to the 2 closets on each side of the WIR. Would be very appreciative for any enlightenment on the above...
