Thanks, happy to show you around the place next time you're around the neighbourhood. I'm always there after work checking things out. Where is your build located and which builder?

I'll be following with interest as I know where you're building (we're doing our own knockdown rebuild in the next suburb). I thought your place was going to be about 50 squares when I drove past but I underestimated! Look forward to seeing your updates. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 23Aug 23, 2016 2:04 pm pnrp4krb We're in Blackburn Sth. Building with Latitude37. Only early in the build for us but hopefully we'll see a slab later this week. Must be exciting to finally see something happening. I remember being so relieved seeing the slab in place. Yes we'll be relieved to see the slab down too. It's been delayed already due to the rain last Friday and yesterday. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 25Aug 23, 2016 9:46 pm I noticed that Metricon started installing the brackets for the Hebel yesterday so I was looking forward to my visit today in hope that I would see some Hebel panels up. As expected parts of the house have Hebel up and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they've starting installing the batts as well. I'm looking forward to the next few days watching the whole house be covered up in Hebel. Wish they had that option up here in QLD. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 27Aug 24, 2016 12:14 pm Hi Vuster, Just came across your post. The house looks amazing! We are also building with Metricon the Bordeaux 45. Unfortunately our block was too small to go for the 56. We also have the pool going in before the build and had the same issues with Metricon as you did! Wish I had come across your blog before our build! We have nearly reach the lockup stage, inspection with Metricon this friday. I have noticed that the front facade fascia have a deep cut which is quite noticable from one side compared to the other. It is quite hard to explain but I will post pictures. I was wondering if you can have a look and let me know if you have experienced this with your bordeaux as well or is it a fault that we have to raise with Metricon? Are you able to take pics of your facade for comparison? Also have you commenced on landscaping? Would love to see pics and get recommendations. Cant work out how to attach images! Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 29Aug 24, 2016 12:43 pm Your home is gonna be stunning. I love love love the floorplan! Can't wait to see it all come together. I was just wondering whether they have explained much about the current process to you. Reason being- my whole job is being held back because they are telling me the whole outside needs to be completed including all cladding and rendering before they can do insulation and gyprock but I noticed they are starting your internals. I am suspicious that they are just telling me this for cash flow as the next instalment is due when external linings are finished. Any way.... I only started this blog a few days ago which is probably why you didn't stumble onto it! There are a few Bordeaux's built where I am living now(Glen Waverley). One is actually directly across from my house and I witnessed the whole build process. Upload the picture of your facade so I know what you are referring to. It might just be a Bordeaux 45 thing. I will also upload whatever photos I have of the bordeaux facade for your reference. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 32Aug 24, 2016 1:58 pm MrsJM Your home is gonna be stunning. No, they didn't explain too much about the current build process. A lot of the information I gathered from the MyMetricon customer portal. It shows the progress of the build with scheduled dates and explains each milestone payment. Ideally you would want the cladding up before insulation so it doesn't get wet etc. I guess it depends on the supervisor who is calling the shorts with all the tradies. The insulation was only installed yesterday which was when the hebel was being installed. It's probably safe to assume that insulation would be OK as the Hebel is installed pretty quickly. You wouldn't want them to install plaster until the house is sealed with cladding and windows. I have a gap in my roof which I've told my supervisor about and I mentioned to him that he better not get the plaster installed until it is fixed. The electrical and plumbing were all done prior to the cladding being installed. Have they started on those for you at least? Wow I'm impressed by the online updates- I'm lucky to get a fortnightly or monthly phone call! Haha. My plumbing was done a few months ago and electrical rough in just about done so hopefully they can start on the internals as soon as we are sealed up ! C U S T O M. C O R A L. Obviously it's an expensive exercise but I didn't want to risk selecting colours/finishes that would deviate from the display home. After all, it's like I'm getting a free interior designer. What I've discovered is that Metricon cannot build you the Bordeaux exactly as displayed. They have a set of suppliers that you must choose your selections from. e.g. Tiling is done via Beaumont Tiles and lighting via Beacon Lighting. The annoying thing for me was that they could not provide me with all the displayed Bordeaux lights. Its one one of the things that really make the home striking. At the electrical appointment the consultant had a spreadsheet with the bordeaux display lights and their equivalent match from Beacon lighting. They were a terrible match. I opted to leave the feature lights out and source them myself. With a bit of help from my sales consultant I managed to find most of them. Here's a list of the main Bordeaux display lights and where I managed to find them from: WIR pendant(Antaro 60) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hallway candle lights. These were about $400 each. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen pendants. I had to get them shipped from Perth: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Dining room light. I discovered that this light is custom made by Mayfield lamps.who are wholesalers and do not deal direct to the public. I managed to get a lighting company to get a quote on my behalf and it turned out to be 3-4K so I found an alternative which was a longer version of the kitchen pendant! What about the tiles? I've often wondered as I was sure they used Beaumont and quite a few tiles in their display homes- I am 99% positive they aren't Beaumont. And I feel like I should know because I basically lived at Beaumont for 6 months every weekend before my tile appointment (and for weeks after haha). Those pendants ARE a bit more spesh than the beacon equivilant, aren't they... Wonder if I can get a refund lol C U S T O M. C O R A L.
