Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 786Jun 02, 2017 11:58 am Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 789Jun 02, 2017 9:49 pm The master race of best house on Homeone is now completed Vuster did you have one particular reasons for going with a corner block? what kind of road setback you ended up with? We are on a corner block for the new build but we never had any experience with the corner block before. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 790Jun 02, 2017 10:27 pm Vuster Definitely go with the French piers, matches the house perfectly. Agree with Dulie, impressive skills on photoshop. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 791Jun 03, 2017 12:25 am Thanks fellas. Mt view, to be honest I never intended to buy this house. I just rocked up to the auction and thought it was cheap and put in one bid for it haha. It was an investment property for the last 10 years. Metricon initially drew a 4m set back when I first signed up however I wanted a bigger driveway so I requested 5m. This is the distance to the portico. It's 6.5m to the garage. Side setback is 2m. The house just squeezed onto my block which is only 15.3m wide. There was no house next door which relaxed the front setback requirements. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 792Jun 03, 2017 6:53 pm Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 795Jun 20, 2017 10:53 am It's been a month since we moved into our home. I've got about 40 defects still outstanding, my supervisor has only addressed a couple. I haven't been too concerned since I've been busy doing so many other things however I'll have to start chasing him more aggressively now. We haven't been using our master ensuite since we moved in, there has been a strong sewage smell, it ended up being a open sewage vent pipe in the roof cavity in which they forgot to plumb through the roof. The chromogen guys spotted it when they were in the roof attaching the cable that connects the solar panel with the water unit. Can you believe they were so lazy not to finish connecting a cable as it wasn't long enough when they initially did it? My supervisor managed to get a plumber out pretty quick to block the sewage vent. I asked the plumbers if there were any other vents in the roof and they said that there should only be one. 2 weeks later and the ensuite still stinks. I decided to go into the roof myself to inspect. There was another sewage vent right on top of my master ensuite. I can't believe the initial plumbers failed to realize that there was more than one. Again the supervisor sent the plumbers back quick and they managed to fix it for good this time. They actually found a total of 3 vent pipes in the rooftop, one for each bathroom. Here's a photo of the open sewage vent: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ When I was in the roof I noticed that the insulation batts were a mess, it appears the electricians failed to cut and reinstall the batts. I have raised a service request for this. Again, the electricians were so lazy as to connect all the antenna points. It looks like they didn't have an extra video switch so they just left it. After raising the ticket with M, my initial response was that my contract doesn't include an antenna and that I had to organize an electrician myself. I quickly corrected her after quoting the item in my electrical selections. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 796Jun 20, 2017 11:13 am Yeah it's amazing how lazy some of the tradies can be. We've found a few issues here and there as well, but it's just quicker for me to fix it myself then go through all the hassle of organizing with M, taking time of work during the day etc. My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 797Jun 20, 2017 2:11 pm Gee I don't know what to say that I already didn't say it the past. It must be so frustrating? I don't know how they don't double check things. In this case you don't get what you pay for. Specially when it comes to the tradies doing their jobs right to begin with. I hope you get it sorted out fast and they don't make you wait. Either from that I'm glad your enjoying your new home. Must feel awesome getting up in the morning too it. Can't wait to see your pool go up. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 799Jun 20, 2017 3:22 pm Beautiful home! While I think of it...check the way the ducting was installed in your ceiling. We built with M also around 5 years ago (Lindrum 52, now The Milan I think), anyway great quality build and top supervisor HOWEVER whoever installed the ducting were the laziest tradies. I know I should have got M to fix it, but first winter I noticed some vents were not producing any heat. So up in the ceiling I would go and there was duct off it's joiner. What the idiots didn't do was when the duct is connected to either the heating/cooling unit, or another joiner, there are these little lugs the hook into the wire around the duct. This wasn't done and instead the ducts just connected then taped. They should have hooked the duct over the little metal lugs and then taped. I did have someone from whoever installed it to replace one of the zone controllers a couple of years ago and mentioned it to him. He said they did have a period where there was a team of installers that were not doing it correctly and I may have had the bad luck to have them. Probably something the supervisor could not have picked up and was probably only a year after we moved in when we started to have problems. Anyway, all fixed now and it was only last week when one of my original fixes had to be re-done as we stopped getting any heat downstairs. Re: My Metricon Bordeaux 56 build 800Jun 20, 2017 3:43 pm I'll be sure to check everything again before my 3 month service period finishes.
