Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 20, 2016 5:29 pm Is there much difference in "quality" between a house with 300mm centres between floor joists, vice 450mm centres. Looking at online span tables for some systems (ie Hyjoist) they only show figures for 450mm or 600mm centres, so does that mean that 300mm (and the cost associated with it) is overkill. Are we likely to notice any difference in the house for the 450mm centres? Re: Floor Joist Spacing 2Aug 24, 2016 12:44 am Hi planeguy, You will notice a difference... but minor. The flexing in your floor covering will be less... and for floor boards this is more noticeable and is likely to stop longer term creaking. Also the joists will be carrying less load so they will bounce less. Assuming you've modelled the TB8, TB10, TB12, TB2 & J1 joists/LVLs there, it appears as per drawing to me. There maybe should be an additional J1 between TB10 and T12 if… 3 31835 1 10136 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.)
