Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 19, 2016 10:58 pm Hi everyone. Long time lurker first time poster. For the first time in 15 years we are building our dream home after selling our first home. We were signed up with Wisdom homes but bad communication and awfully lengthy delays have changed our builder to Better Built Homes based in Penrith. We are only at tender stage but already their service and inclusions are incredible. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience in building or dealing with them? Like I said so far so great. Thanks everyone. Re: Better Built Homes 2Aug 20, 2016 8:15 am Hi I'm building with them in The Ponds. Roofing just finished this week. So far it looks good. Only concern is with the water pooling around the front and one of the side of the house when it rains. I would like someone professional to have a look hence I have arranged for inspection however need to wait for some more time for inspection. We have signed with someone else earlier and then signed with BBH. So hoping they will make us happy. If you don't mind where are you building? Thanks... Re: Better Built Homes 3Aug 20, 2016 9:14 am Great to hear from another person building with them. We are building in spring farm on a relatively small block but BBH have been excellent in the planning stages. Can i ask what was your time frame was from signing tender with them to the contract to the slab going down? Hoping your water problem isnt too serious. Re: Better Built Homes 5Aug 21, 2016 8:24 pm My initial time frame was different than normal build as I had to change the builder when my CDC plan was almost approved and just waiting for the long service levy. As everything was already ready BBH provided me tender based on my plans, soil report. Work started immediately after bank approval. Re: Better Built Homes 7Sep 08, 2016 10:32 pm Hi Keusade25, it will depend upon how quickly your paperwork will be ready and the approval time. If you go for CDC approval it might be quicker and for council approval it will take longer. In my case everything was ready including CDC approval when I signed tender with Better Built. Re: Better Built Homes 8Sep 11, 2016 9:50 am Thanks for that mansawant. That sounds like it worked out for the best for you. We know we still have a while to go as we still need to get our tender but we are excited about the whole building and plans. I will keep in touch and check in to see how you are faring and about your experiences. I might start my own build thread when we get going. Re: Better Built Homes 12Sep 21, 2016 10:36 am As my plan was already ready they just changed the window size as their supplier for windows is different than my previous builder and I asked them few minor internal changes. What's your build time? Re: Better Built Homes 13Sep 21, 2016 7:25 pm They are saying slab down by early feb and 6 months completion after that so i think i am still a long way from done. Must be a great feeling to see the scaffolding come down. I really like the render at the front. Re: Better Built Homes 15Sep 21, 2016 8:17 pm Double storey on a 416 sqm block. Really packing as much house as i can onto our block. We were going to render the whole front of the house but Jeff the sales rep really urged us not to for some reason. We compromised and rendered the portico but left everything else brick. I will post our plan once finalised in a week or two. Re: Better Built Homes 17Sep 21, 2016 8:33 pm Oh that doesnt sound good. We were going to go with wisdom and they are about the 24 month time period for completion so i am hoping it is the lesser of the two evils! I hope your build gets on a roll soon. This building game is not for the faint hearted as i am just now experiencing. Re: Better Built Homes 18Oct 20, 2016 9:30 pm krusade25 Oh that doesnt sound good. Yes we have signed final plans and they are now being submitted to the developer for approval which they estimate at 6-8 weeks and then after that council approval for another 6-8 weeks. We are hoping for slab down in feb next year! How are things on your end? Have you finished? Any pics? Re: Better Built Homes 20Oct 22, 2016 10:17 pm I have had discussion with construction manager onsite about the slow progress and he promised that they will do their best. However not sure whether they can hand over before 36 weeks as promised before signing the contract. Externally nothing has happened only internal progress. I will take internal pictures next week when I will see Site supervisor. But I have been informed that gyprock done, electrical rough ins, stairs fitted, wet areas water proofing done. Also been informed by Color Tiles that they are going to deliver wet areas tiles in first week of November. Hoping they will suprise me with handover before Christmas as promised. Thanks... brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7565 wondering anyone built with omaxe homes and care to share their experiences. thanks 0 13822 First time poster long story short we are planning knocking down rebuilding a house in Wavell Heights We are thinking to go with Omni built homes as they are but flexible… 0 16269 |
