Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Better Built Homes 92Jan 11, 2017 2:07 pm Stressed!!! Stressed!!! Stressed!!! with this house building. Already stressed with son's school place in high school, and have to vacate current renting unit before first week of February as landlord has given notice to vacate it and the house is not yet ready. Now builder is saying they received only tile details from tile company and don't know that I have paid for screed installation. And its between me and tile company. Isn't this big shock if you hear something like this at this stage of the building when you have already spent all your savings in your first dream home. Do I need to update builder with tiles details and how they are going to lay tiles or it's between tile company and builder? Better Built Homes 94Jan 11, 2017 9:47 pm Annu I can understand brother, are we building with BBH or with tile company?? Its really very sad with their approach. I guess it comes down to who you paid. That is very frustrating though. I'm guessing you paid the tile company for just the tiles. And that BBH was paid for the screed and laying. In that case, I would say that BBH is at fault as the tile company was paid just to supply the tiles. Re: Better Built Homes 95Jan 11, 2017 10:16 pm mathewfrost Annu I can understand brother, are we building with BBH or with tile company?? Its really very sad with their approach. I guess it comes down to who you paid. That is very frustrating though. I have been told by builder that during tile appointment if I do any upgrades over builder's standard allowance then I have to pay the difference direct to the tile company. After my selection I received two invoices from tile company one for supply and another for fixing. It's not that I dealt with tile company direct and paid them. Also I was told that I can't make an appointment with builder's colour cousultant for internal colour appointment until I finalise my tile, carpet and electrical selection. I have upgraded not only tiles but also carpet and electrical items. So its between tile company and builder to sort out. Re: Better Built Homes 97Jan 12, 2017 11:34 am Hi Mansawant, I hope they are working on it and resolve it, without any delays. My view is that we consider BBH as our builder and they are using color tile for the work. Its their job to make sure that BBH customer are getting what they paid for and a quality of work. If their is any issues not just at the start but later, its BBH responsibility to fix it as they are using in the project tradies or suppliers, can't say that you have done deal directly with them and now you have to sort it out yourself. I hope BBH will live up to its reputation. Re: Better Built Homes 98Jan 12, 2017 12:14 pm As per Builder they are not aware of screed installation and if the screed is installed it will affect the kitchen. But the question is if the tile size is bigger than your standard range one should ask if there are any additional things to be done when you start planning. Its between them to find out who didn't inform or who didn't ask. And in between I am stressed because it's affecting my house. I have been told by builder to attend tile shop, carpet shop and electrical company for selections. That's it. And respective company will provide information to the builder. Once builder have all the information then I can attend internal selection appointment with their color consultant. I was not involved in that communication process at all. Any ways tomorrow I have a meeting with builder on site about it. Let's see.... Re: Better Built Homes 99Jan 12, 2017 2:16 pm Hope for the best.............. What is the builder's standard allowance? do we have a break down including tiles and labor cost. As per builder 600x600 installation cost in not there in allowance and it will be charged extra when you go for 600x600 tiles, further when you get it rectified tiles then charges increase. Just confused what is the total allowances including tiles and installation cost?? Confused?? Re: Better Built Homes 100Jan 12, 2017 3:59 pm Annu, when I signed the contract there were 3 types inclusion lists and there was specific amount up to which you can select tiles And if you go above that amount you have to pay the difference. And for rectified tiles and if you are going for large tiles you have to pay extra for installations as well. I just checked the current inclusion list however amount is not there. brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7566 I haven’t.
