Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 04, 2016 12:25 pm Hi all, I have tried searching the forums for my topic but it is quite extensive task to do so! Just wanting to get an idea of how long it took for everyone to build? For the specifics I am building the Addison 24 with Carlisle homes. Cheers, Bec Re: Building Length 3Aug 04, 2016 1:32 pm Our builder indicates 7-8 months from slab down (depending on size of house). I have fingers and toes crossed for 7 months but initial conversations have indicated around 8-9months. Re: Building Length 4Aug 04, 2016 2:10 pm When I was looking at Carlisle Homes they had a 20 week build guarantee. I take it they don't offer that anymore? I think most smaller or custom builders say anywhere from 8-11 months. We have already been 6, probably going to be 8 (well I hope it is not any longer!!) My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Building Length 5Aug 04, 2016 3:34 pm Heya, we had our slab down in Feb and keys in June. We didn't have any major modifications though and was a 26 square single storey. Re: Building Length 6Aug 04, 2016 5:46 pm Our slab was down at the beginning of July and we were hoping to be in by Christmas. Wishful thinking it seems! Hopefully we will be as lucky as Phil and Bec Re: Building Length 7Aug 04, 2016 6:55 pm I think it depends a lot on where you build. I was talking to a developer in Dubbo last week and gets his places up in 12-14 weeks. Our contract (Sydney build) is 43 weeks! Re: Building Length 8Aug 04, 2016 10:13 pm Gj gardner contract says 32weeks. Haven't begun as yet sales guys said 14 weeks so hoping its somewhere in between. Re: Building Length 9Aug 06, 2016 6:49 am Ours is 22sq and handover end of this month, almost 5 month build with no delays. (2 story in western sydney) Re: Building Length 11Aug 06, 2016 12:56 pm In my area, they seem to be smashing out the single stories & depending on the builder, doubles can go up fast too. I started on site in late April and I reckon I'm about a week until lockup. There's a single that started 4 weeks ago at the same stage, if a little more ahead than mine (with M). I also saw a Carlisle double down the street from me that I reckon started 6 weeks ago and about the same stage as me. Is it luck? Maybe...but I think its safe to say from what I am seeing about 5 months for a single, 7-8 for a double. That's with a small split in the design - otherwise known as Kym - Re: Building Length 13Aug 06, 2016 1:44 pm I've been told 16-20 weeks. Contract allows 32 I think. But only building a 17sq house so it's not complicated. Others I've seen going up by the same builder are completed in that time. Depends on the builder, size of the house etc I think. No one building with rawson in Sydney seems to be finishing ahead of contract expiry.
