Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 04, 2016 7:59 pm I was wondering if I should make an issue of this…. I contacted my site supervisor numerous times and asked to have an input on the ducted vacuum outlet locations. Never heard back from him. When I did finally get in contact with him the contractors had already put the outlets in, mind you, this was a month after my initial request. He said he’ll ask the contractor to have a look if it can be moved and would let me know. I had to contact him a week later to get an answer which he said the contractor went to site and there was no other place for it. I know this is BS as their other houses (same design) have it in other locations. I’d put money on it that he didn't even ask the contractor. Now that the gyprock is up and about to be painted, should I just leave it or pursue it further and cause friction? It’s just one outlet that I wanted somewhere else (although its current location is functional, I wanted it hidden away around the corner). Re: Should I make an issue of this? 4Aug 05, 2016 10:12 am Request to see the construction manager not your supervisor speak to him direct... All things can be Amended through the the process. If it's the case of moving something it shouldn't be a issue Re: Should I make an issue of this? 5Aug 05, 2016 11:29 am If not on the plans then they'll probably hit you with the costs to make the move. Agree that you shouldn't talk to your Site Super because this sort of issue is something they generally aren't allowed to make a decision on. He'd just refer it back to the office in any case and that's when they'll start generating a Variation Notice. Once you get the cost you can work out if it's worthwhile. Re: Should I make an issue of this? 7Aug 06, 2016 9:32 am I don't think i should have to pay for a variation as i have evidence that I asked to be consulted but was never contacted. If he said the contractor said there's no other place for it what more can I do??? I asked if I could speak to the contractor to ask why .... that request was ignored Re: Should I make an issue of this? 8Aug 06, 2016 11:03 am History is full of people who have evidence of agreeing something with their builders but the builder response, 99% of the time", will be "it's not on the plans". The individual who told you to discuss it with your Site Super was full of it because the Site Super is there to make sure the building is put up as cheaply as possible, maximising profit to the builder and not deviating from the plans unless there's money in it. Put your request in writing to management including the fact that you've asked for feedback and been ignored but I'd still bet there'll be $ involved. Not sure who you're building with, but I moved in recently to a 11month scheduled, 8 month actual build on the South coast/Illawarra NSW 3 5919 I posted the floorplan on Houzz.com forum and got some really good ideas and advice from people there. Then we reached out to a couple of renovation companies and one… 5 10106 at most it will have a short lintel which could be moved up just below the ceiling or even above. Above means you need to patch the cornice and might need to deal with… 2 61392 |
