Didn't have to add much, only 2 double power point and an external light. I guess we did spend $7000 at Clipsal. When we were going through the plan, we did discover that our walk in linen and walk in pantry were around the wrong way we have been through the house at least 10 times since frames and we didn't pick it up. It's an easy fix, thankfully!! Kspec did their inspection this morning, only picked up a couple of issues, ss said they would be fixed by end of today. Plasters and brickies start tomorrow!! Brick should take about a week, plaster closer to 2 weeks. Finally things are moving along faster. Hubster and I spent yesterday making a trillion calls getting quotes for everything for after handover. Just don't know where we are getting all the money from. We worked out what we hope to do with the front yard, just waiting til a little closer to handover to get some quotes. Re: Daydream 30 Week 10- Bricks and Plaster. 227Jan 19, 2018 9:10 am We started to look at bricks for our house, and we are pretty set on picking Moondust, and it's funny now that i'm paying attention to what other people's choices were for theirs, I can tell moondust is popular for a reason! Really eager to see your bricks up with your Windspray roof. We are still undecided on our roof haha how annoying is that scratch! Will be sorted out though Re: Daydream 30 Week 10- Bricks and Plaster. 228Jan 19, 2018 12:18 pm CC7 We started to look at bricks for our house, and we are pretty set on picking Moondust, and it's funny now that i'm paying attention to what other people's choices were for theirs, I can tell moondust is popular for a reason! Will be sorted out though Moon dust was the only brick hubster and I agreed on. I wasn't too keen on it to begin with, but once I saw it in double height, I knew it was the one. I can't drive atm, so I'm trying to twist hubsters arm into driving me out this afternoon to see if our bricks have started. I will be making them change that window, whether they like it or not. Re: Daydream 30 Week 10- Bricks and Plaster. 229Jan 19, 2018 12:26 pm I find agreeing was the hardest part of the whole ordeal. We ended up each having final say on the parts that was most important to us. So I designed the kitchen and paint colours, he had final say on tiles, carpet and the pool area. I haven't seen it in person yet (will tomorrow, so hopefully we love it as we didnt want anything dark, or too warm) My partner and I are lucky we have very similar tastes. He was leaning toward the little notch handles for the cupboads, but im leaning for the traditional. At least when i told him my reasoning (for the grayness to match in with the floors and grey counters against the white) he agrees it would look better. I mean we haven't done colours yet (wednesday!) so I can't speak so soon haha I keep telling myself we are very lucky to be able to build a home and pick finishes at all, it's easy to get caught up in all though, but at the end of the day, its a handle, it's a brick. We are going to try our best to stick within the standard range as much as possible, or at least work out what we "NEED" to have upgraded. We weren't SUPER fussed about bricks at the beginning, but here I am talking about Moondust - that is an upgrade haha, man wish us luck really looking forward to see your bricks go up. How far away are you from your build? Ours will be a 25min drive, i think we'd be there every day if we could. It must be so exciting to see everything come together so quickly Re: Daydream 30 Week 10- Bricks and Plaster. 231Jan 19, 2018 3:34 pm CC7 xjanex CC7 We started to look at bricks for our house, and we are pretty set on picking Moondust, and it's funny now that i'm paying attention to what other people's choices were for theirs, I can tell moondust is popular for a reason! It must be so exciting to see everything come together so quickly Our budget got blown out of the water the minute I fell in love with the daydream floor plan it just snow balled from there. We didn't bother upgrading anything that we could do easily later. Anything that was 'too hard' we upgraded or added. We went with standard tiles but upgraded the grout. We upgraded to silk finish cabinets but went standard handles. We didn't add a facade, with the daydream they are about 10k minimum, instead we upgraded our garage door, spent the extra money to add the fancy door handle. The moondust bricks in double height were in the standard range but the single height were an upgrade. However we did our colours December 2016 so things might have changed. We are about 20 minutes away. Hubster just gets annoyed when our ss tells us stuff should have been done, we drive out to see it and it's not done. I think we picked that facade to make the house seem bigger than it is haha. the daydream is such a beautiful house, the front has impact without needing some fancy facade anyways. we are planning to do driveway, aircon, landscaping, patio tiling, shutters/blinds after handover. I think for anything else we are probably too lazy for haha, although we REALLY wanted soft closed cupboards, but just alone for the kitchen was CRAZY so we will hopefully get a family friend to install that feature for us i checked my colours pre selection guide (dated july 2017) and it seems double moondust is standard, and single is still an upgrade. no idea how that works! oh thats annoying about the SS saying things will be done by a date, and you drive out that way and its not. that would annoy me SO much, our drive out will have tolls Hopefully your bricks start soon, such a bummer Re: Daydream 30 Week 10- Bricks and Plaster. 234Jan 20, 2018 9:33 pm CC7 haha we have gone with the Torquay facade, but I guess the good thing about choosing the Avoca is it's a smaller house in general, so i guess less materials are needed for things we might want to upgrade. My sales rep kept trying to say that it might be worth doing later, however we worked it out to I think 90/sqm for their quote which is actually really reasonable for the quotes I got for exposed aggregate. The advantage of going with the builder is that it comes under their warranty then. just a thought, We haven't got our final contract yet so we are a fair bit further behind everyone here but I read the same suggestion in the Things you forgot thread Re: Daydream 30 Week 10- Bricks and Plaster. 235Jan 20, 2018 10:06 pm Nublette CC7 haha we have gone with the Torquay facade, but I guess the good thing about choosing the Avoca is it's a smaller house in general, so i guess less materials are needed for things we might want to upgrade. But i mean... we aren't going to have our driveway down when we move in, so if we don't line it up nicely there may be some not so nice muddy tyre marks in the clean garage floor haha how great is that things you forget thread! I have to look at it again this week as it was a few months ago i went through it all. One of the things is we made sure that our man hole in the garage was actual in a useful spot. I had read on that thread that they had their manhole moved to the garage ceiling, but because of the angle/peaks of their roof, it was a smaller tradie that would fit in there. So hopefully since we have it in the tender it will be placed in a practicable point haha We have been fairly prepared for everything, but electrical not so much... Oh ok, I don't know why ours was quoted so cheap then! maybe just the different house or the flatness of our block? not sure but I guess I'm grateful. Yeah I did read that most of the time it's better to do after too so I guess you're all over it Yep that thread has been really useful, going to final contract on the 6th of feb and feeling pretty confident that we haven't missed anything we'll regret too much! Yeah I have felt the same about electrical, have tried to ask questions/quotes and was told we just have to wait until the clipsal appointment. We did put a huge amount in for the expected appointment so hopefully we've overdone it rather than under. That's a good point about the manhole, I'd forgotten that one... might have to call my rep haha! That's a good point about the manhole, I'd forgotten that one... might have to call my rep haha! yes we tried to put as much in before too, for our first appointment with our SR we had a massive list of what we wanted, and had already picked the brains of many staff at display homes, and went through all the forums. One thing i KNEW i wanted, was to raise the height on the wardrobes (to match the raised ceilings) and their doors. But that came from living in houses were i struggled to be able to fit bigger items through the gap to truly use all that space that sits above the shelf. We had asked our Sales Rep if anyone had done it before, and she said the second person, and the first person was the same week haha, I think it's something people may not think about. pot drawers were another. so its all about knowing what works for you in your current home... or what really ticks you off haha. i don't think we put much towards that electrical appointment in terms of money, so we are expecting to blow it out. We will sit down this week with the A3 plan and work out where we REALLY want power and lights. Really clueless, we haven't worked out how much better it would be to supply our own lights, to be honest, i dont even want to know how many different types of downlights there are, and what wats etc. Re: Daydream 30 Week 10- Bricks and Plaster. 238Jan 22, 2018 12:29 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Just went out for a little look and the brickies either worked on Saturday or they have a damn rocket up their ***! Is that the standard mortar or the off-white? totally sold on the double moondust for us now. we went out to the brick yard and my partner said 'i really love that, but i guess we'll see how much of an upgrade it is or just get the standard height' then i told him double height is standard, so he's over the moon haha the doubt gives such a nice look (compared to the single height of your neighbours) Hi Everyone I learned something this week that I thought would be worth sharing.
