Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 24, 2016 3:01 am Hey Guys,
I started building a house with New Generation Homes in Wellard, WA, March 2016. Now it's almost completed and my PCI inspection is on the 10th of August! So excited as this is my first house and I am doing it alone ! Just have to say I am so far very impressed with New Generation Homes (Summit) and their professionalism and the work quality. Everything from the initial consultation to the slab down to now has been very smooth and trouble free. Hopefully the final few things will go well too ! The design I used for the house was Intrepid . Little bit different from the everyday design as my entrance is through a porch on the side and not in the front. Now I have mixed feelings about it though but very happy with the inside layout. https://www.newgenerationhomes.com.au/n ... s/intrepid It's a small house in a 300sqm block. I thought I will share some photos of the journey so far And New Generations @Home portal is really helpful with regular photos and explanation of all the steps involved. Re: New House in Wellard WA- New Generation Homes 7Jul 30, 2016 9:26 am Oh yes, I know where you are. Good spot there, nice and close for freeway access and not far to shops etc either. What needs to be finished on your place before PCI? We're hoping to have ours about the 3rd week of August so not long after you Our Custom Dale Alcock build in the Village at Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78620 Re: New House in Wellard WA- New Generation Homes 8Jul 31, 2016 6:29 pm Wellard2ndTimers Oh yes, I know where you are. Can't wait to move in sometime end of next month ! Are you planning to hire a professional for the PCI? I've heard mixed opinions about it. I have a friend who is a quantity surveyor and he is saying he can come for the PCI with me and have a look and no need of a professional. I am still deciding as professionals charge around $550-650!! Re: New House in Wellard WA- New Generation Homes 9Jul 31, 2016 10:42 pm At this stage no. I know it's not a guarantee by any means, but hearsay is that our builder is one of the best around for compliance, and we have been following very closely every step of the way (literally there at least 3 times a week, daily during the bricks and roof). We have hundreds of photos and we've been happy with everything, our SS has discussed why some things have been done certain ways - he seems to be quality old school. For example, all our walls are bricked in to the perpendicular wall rather than just using the ties. We also had a good nosy through other builds in the street pre-lock up - I'm quite confident our build quality is at the top of the pack. If we did have any concerns with the workmanship we would've addressed them already, we don't think they've even had the chance to pull a swifty on anything we haven't seen! The PCI inspection which I hired someone to do went really well with only some minor issues. They were all fixed within 2-3 days and everything went very smoothly . Overall I am very happy with New generation as my builder. Some photos of the final project!
