What the developers allow and what the council may pass is probably the difference between sales blurb and council regs. Our local council will let you have any width you like on your property but at the boundary it has to be 3000mm or less unless there are mitigating circumstances.
I would love to have a full width ( 6m or so ) driveway.

Have a look on their website. In their engineering dept there should be some templates showing driveways, laybacks, footpaths, gutters etc.
