Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 23, 2016 12:30 am Hi, We are first time builders waiting for our land to Register in Gregory hills, College release. Just wanted to know if anyone else was planning on building in the release also? We have decided to go with a new Sydney building company Hall and Hart if anyone on here has built with them. Thanks - look forward to sharing experiences with people building in a similar situation. Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 3Jul 28, 2016 2:47 pm We have signed our tender and variations and so far are really happy with them. Just need to wait for our land to register now. We are building the Sienna 36 with the Urban facade. What house are you guys looking at? How has your experience been? Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 5Sep 26, 2016 11:36 pm So our land is very close to rego, 1 to 2 weeks and we have started selecting the internal features. 1st appointment was the Home Option centre, the girl there was great, really easy to select tapware, door, internal colours etc. The girl mentioned our builder had a lot of inclusions and the costs for upgrades were minimal, she explained other builders they deal with can charge a fortune for stuff we have included so that's nice to know. We have also completed our carpet appointment, with a slight upgrade but the better underlay and carpet will be well worth the $$$. Have our Kitchen appointment in a few days which is scary but i'm pretty sure I know what I am after. Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 7Oct 13, 2016 9:44 pm I spoke to a guy from DartWest yesterday and he told me "any day now...". I was initially told last week but it must be soon... Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 8Oct 15, 2016 9:58 am Hi, just want to see how you go with Hall and Hart? They quote me a good price including landscaping and fencing, but I'm worry that there is not much information online. Will they be a reliable builder? Much appreciate if you can let me know how you guys go with them or any comments. I searched high and low as I wanted more info but didn't come up with much. The company is new but all the owners seem very experienced. So far we are very happy with our choice and I actually love the fact I'm dealing with the owners of the company and not just another sales guy. Hall and Hart have met all of our needs thus far and have been understanding with our situation (land still not registered). I am really excited to get our slab down and see our plans come to life. Happy to answer any specific questions you might have, hope this helps you! Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 10Oct 15, 2016 9:51 pm Hi Ally, Thank you for sharing! Their inclusion sounds really good, they quote me the price inclusive of landscaping and fencing letterbox etc, like a turn key package, the 4900 upgrade also has really good inclusions. Will all the building materials be the same as others? And im worry about their construction team, if they have sufficient ppl to complete the job. It also sounds like they dont have a completed house so we can visit. Im from a background that I already got so upset with 2 builders and waste nearly 1 year and got nothing done (with the problem of narrow corner block) so i just want to be very careful to choose this time. Good to know that you had a good experience, so at least this is a plus Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 11Oct 15, 2016 10:55 pm Hey Kate, From what we have seen so far, Hall and Hart's basic inclusions are what alot of builders have as expensive upgrades so I do think while upfront they might seem dearer overall you are get alot better final product for the same end price. In regards to builders to complete the job, they are probably all subcontractors like lots of other builders. So they would hire depending on their demand of houses. You never know, maybe the house will be completed sooner as they are concentrating on a smaller amount of houses then someone like Metricon? This is our first build so I'm no expert and we are at the early stages. Maybe it's worth approaching the guys like Chris and Nick and expressing your concerns upfront - if you feel good about their answers go from there. It seems like a gamble no matter who you build with these days, so fingers crossed we are making the right decision too. Good luck with your decision! Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 13Nov 01, 2016 8:34 am Hi all, We have started a tender with Hall and Hart aswell. So far they seem good to deal with, and it appears there are less hidden costs then with some other builders. Does anyone have any further updates on their progress with this builder so far? Thanks! Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 14Nov 01, 2016 5:51 pm Hi Seren, Just wonder how you know if they have less hidden cost? But sure their inclusions are much better. I still havent make up my minbd yet... so will good to know more about your experience. Cheers Kate Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 15Nov 02, 2016 7:40 pm Hi Kate, It is always difficult to choose, so much choice but it is really difficult to actually compare Apples with Apples. We have dealt with a few different builders at this early stage and have just noticed that so far their inclusions actually include what you assume they should. Their sales process is also helpful at answering some cost questions earlier then other builders. So we will wait and see how this one progresses =) Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 16Nov 02, 2016 8:23 pm Hi Seren1ty, What house are you looking at building? Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 17Nov 03, 2016 12:59 pm Hi AllyBrian, We are looking at the Elyse 38, slightly modified to around a 40. How did your kitchen appointment go? Was that at Kitchen Culture or somewhere else? Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 18Nov 05, 2016 12:02 am Hi Seren1ty, Kitchen was with Elba Kitchens, it was really good and easy too - we had a few inclusions with Hall and Hart so only ended up spending $2000.00 in extras which was really great. We have had all our appointments now and are almost ready to sign our final tender then we can start laying some slab! Re: Building in Gregory Hills - College Release Hall and Har 20Nov 07, 2016 8:32 am Great news about your appointments going well and costs being within your expectations. You're getting to the point where it's about to get real! Sounds like things are progressing smoothly, which is good to hear. Nice tile choices! We can relate to that colour scheme, looks very stylish. We're trying to decide on colour schemes, and have pretty much settled on external colours and some internal styles. Of course once we're in the showroom other things may pop out too.
