Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - We've got a frame! 61Dec 09, 2016 1:59 pm So our progress slowed for a bit as we had our inspector out & he found a few things that needed to be rectified. All done now & they'Ve started bricking & plastering. A bit sad cos it means we will be locked out soon but least it's looking like a real house! We are building with Watersun in Moama NSW. Still in the plan stages but hoping the slab goes down by end of Feb. Sounds like your experience with WS has been ok so far? Do you have any tips for a newbie? The feedback has been frightening online but I keep telling myself it's only a small percentage that we are hearing from... Would love to see more pics of your Kent! ____________________________________________________ Building the Macedon floor plan with Watersun in Moama viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85957 Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - We've got a frame! 65Dec 18, 2016 12:07 pm Hey Cag+Aidys, Our experience has been so / so. Our customer service person is great and our SS is pretty good but it took a bit of a process to get to that point. The best tip we had was to engage an independent building inspector - which you should do regardless of who you build with. We've had a couple dramas which I don't really want to post publicly but feel free to PM me if you would like some more info! As for pics, we are now locked out! Which is great but bad for snooping! Here are a couple pics from earlier this week before they locked us out. Your house is looking great. I didn't realise they lock the owner out. We live a few doors down from where we are building so would be good to be able to get in when we want to. I'll see if I can find an independent building inspector in my area. Thanks for the tip. Hope the rest of your build goes well. ____________________________________________________ Building the Macedon floor plan with Watersun in Moama viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85957 Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 67Jan 15, 2017 4:59 pm Looking really good! Couple updates for you! Painting has been done which is good. They've started to tile as well and benchtops should be in this week hopefully. Couple small issues we've had. First they forgot to put in the shower niche in our ensuite bathroom. Luckily it was picked up before they tiled so that got fixed earlier in the week. Second issue is kind of a biggie. Because we changed our floor plan and closed in our study to create extra garage space, its led to a long stretch of wall / plaster. Turns out it's too long so the plaster has started to bow. To offset that, they need to fix the cornices and plaster as well as add two bulkheads in our halfway to strengthen the walls. We're not too happy but at the same time we have placed one of the bulkheads halfway down the hallway and the builder has put in two wall things (thats the technical term LOL) so we can put a door in the hallway to separate our two living spaces. Other than that it's moving along, albeit very slowly! And now for some pics Rendering on the outside http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p634/wickie08/render_zpscgfghnfp.jpg Halway before the bulkheads http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p634/wickie08/Hall%201_zpsz7bw2rqm.jpg Hallway with the bulkheads started http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p634/wickie08/bulkhead_zpswwrhyttz.jpg Main Bathroom http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p634/wickie08/bath%201_zpscxlxdmrc.jpg Main bathroom http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p634/wickie08/bath%202_zpsm8mrt37c.jpg Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 72Feb 08, 2017 4:14 pm KatSki Wow it's looks amazing!! I like the wall colour Lucky it got picked up early, hopefully they'll get it sorted out asap. Thanks! We stalked your place the other week - looking great! You must be close to moving in? Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 73Feb 08, 2017 4:15 pm andyboiii Despite the slow progress, everything seems to be coming up nicely! Definitely keep us updated Thanks Andy! How are your plans coming along? Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 74Feb 08, 2017 4:33 pm Coming slow and steady Wickie... I am not an expert but the length of hallway shouldn't be an issue... doesn't matter how long the hallway is, plaster comes in standard sizes and it will be screwed to the wall/roof frame... it shouldn't bow... some builder go beyond what is required and put small boards (don't remember the technical names) at random places above ceiling and screw the plaster onto it... It adds more strength... My hallways... I have visions of you putting the toys in the boxes and him taking them straight out! Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
