I heard most of their Geelong Display homes are bought by Mimosa homes, and they are also buying their cloverton display homes. Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 103Mar 26, 2017 6:11 pm Hey friends! A non update for you all. It looks like Mega Homes are taking over a lot of the watersun homes but we haven't beard anything official as yet. It looks like we will engage our own private builder rather than go through the administrator. We are currently renting & have been in our house 7 years this year. Looks like our landlord wants to sell & we've been warned we will be getting a 60 days to vacate notice in the coming weeks. One day we will have a house - maybe by the year 2019 Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 105Mar 26, 2017 7:44 pm Really feel for you Wickie... do you have an option or have to go with Mega Homes... Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 106Mar 26, 2017 7:48 pm Honestly it's not all bad. There are a bunch of rentals out there & whilst it will be annoying signing a 12 month lease, it will be better than being in limbo. Reg, we can either go with a Mega Homes or go through insurance & get our own builder, which is what we will do. One of Mr Wickies friends is a builder so we will most likely get him to finish - least we know he won't go broke Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 107Mar 26, 2017 8:12 pm wickie Honestly it's not all bad. Builder is chosen by Insurance and with the one who charges less money ... so you can get quality regardless but depends how the next builder does it Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 109Mar 26, 2017 8:47 pm The builder is chosen by insurance based upon the 2 quotes we get (after they have their own inspector out to check the validity of the quotes). Given that we know the quality of the work with the builder we've chosen, we're happy with the choice we've made. Well I m too waiting for them they have promised me 10 days so waiting if it turns out mega homes i m going with insurance. No point in wasting another month with them getting on and sorting files and so on.. What is ur opinion on all this ? More than 400 homes were left in various pre-contract or contract stages when the Victorian arm of Watersun went into administration a month ago. Mega Homes, VM Builders and Ric Jelfs Custom Homes have been secured to complete about half the properties, administrators Rodgers Reidy say. One of Mr Wickies friends is a builder so we will most likely get him to finish - least we know he won't go broke Just a question here wickie, since insurance will pay 40% of the house price that means they will pay upto one stage payment say Fixing which normally comes to $50,000 for medium range house, what if the builder says I quote you $100K for the full completion where does the rest $50K comes from, will that be paid from the pocket of the homeowners or pay and claim it as losses from insurance. I am in dilemma over this, what if the admin appointed builders says we will finish it for the price you are agreed in your Watersun Contract. Confusion .... undecided what will be the proper and no cost to me way .. Re: Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 114Mar 31, 2017 10:49 am Update - we have officially been asked to leave our current rental. Our property manager is an angel and got us into a new place so we will be moving in the next 2 weeks. Only a couple kms from our current house, cheaper and the landlord is happy for us to go on a 6 month lease with an option of month to month after if we need it! We also officially were notified this morning that they cannot locate a builder to finish our house so we need to go through insurance. Not a drama as we were doing that already and are getting our quotes finalised now. sajidmib, my understanding is that you will need to find the difference in funds yourself - either through the insurance if that covers it, through your bank (ie your loan balance will be higher) or pay for it yourself. Our Watersun Build - Kent 27 - Bricks and Plaster! 115Mar 31, 2017 9:02 pm We got the letter as well for not finding a builder, guess they couldn't broker a deal for one with half build. Our temp fences are gone as they were paid up till march end, which was the handover date . Our rental lease run out on 15th April so would see if we get into a month to month agreement. I have engaged builder and they came to quote around they said approx would be $90K but written quote is yet to come will be around $80K to $90K. Not sure if we would be covered for the payment out of pocket on top as insurance will pay 20% of the house price. Passed the liquidators letter to the insurance, the fun starts now Will keep everyone updated as it unfolds. Re: Our First Build 116Jul 03, 2017 9:43 am Hello all! Thought I would post an update for you all. Looks like we are going to have to do major stuff to the bathrooms. The shower in the ensuite is the wrong size so thats going to come out completely. The waterproofing membrane has been destroyed by the good folk at watersun so the tiling needs to come up in our other bathroom. The good part of all of this is that we are going to take the opportunity to make some slight changes to the tiling in both bathrooms. The bad news is we can't find our original tiles so now we have to pick something else and Mr Wickie and I cannot agree on anything! Although when all is said and done, he got his 3 car garage so I get to pick the bathrooms The assessor has come out and said our quotes are very reasonable and we shouldn't have any issues with our claim being approved. I am just waiting to hear back from VMIA and hopefully it wont be too long before things kick off again! And a funny story for you all. For some reason I had it in my head that the 20% that the VMIA cover included the defects that have to be rectified. I have been stressing for weeks thinking we didn't have enough to cover everything. Turns out the defects are assessed separately and I was worrying for nothing. Good one Wickie! Re: Our First Build 117Jul 03, 2017 11:35 am Good to see you're making some in roads in getting it all sorted. There is always a silver lining, isn't there? You get the tiles that you like! haha Keep us updated, I'm stoked that things are definitely progressing for you! Re: Our First Build 118Dec 12, 2017 10:39 am Sooo it’s been a long time since I’ve posted but thought I would give you all an update. Insurance side of things was sorted & things have been progressing along nicely. The inside is pretty much done now. We are awaiting fly screens & the appliances to be installed (which won’t be done til new year). The outside just needs the driveway / path to be concreted & then we are done!! Then the next fight begins in getting the surveyor to organise a COO so we can move in. It’s been a long process but I am so happy with how the house has turned out. Our bathrooms were pretty much gutted & had to be completely redone but I love how they have turned out. Now for some pics! Wait till you move in - you won't know yourself for awhile! lol. I can't wait! How is your place going?? Hope you are all settled in now Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17628 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23785 "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23920 |
