Only change we've made since this is the alfresco will now have a corner stacker rather than 2 separate doors

Cavity sliders are a maintenance issue. Put a door on the ensuite. Re: My plan... would you change anything? 9Jul 13, 2016 5:49 pm Cant add much, its a lovely home with plenty of practical areas. I have one in my house so would be good to know what im in for ![]() Re: My plan... would you change anything? 11Jul 13, 2016 11:37 pm I would swap the kids area for bedroom 3. Then the bathroom and all common areas are together and bedrooms feed off that area. I would also do a csd on the ensuite. As the kids get older you want some privacy when in the bathroom when they come in to talk to the other parent etc. Maybe sliders also on the media, so if someone wants to watch a movie, they can while someone else works in the kitchen etc and both have space without having to block other the other. Also if you have younger kids and want to watch movies not suitable for kids then you can close the door and still watch on your good tv and not hide in the bedroom. If you do move the kids area I would also do a slider from the family area to the kids area so then when you have a bunch over playing video games, or watching tv etc you can close them out and enjoy your area. I have cavity sliders in my current house for years and have no areas. Looks good though. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: My plan... would you change anything? 12Jul 13, 2016 11:38 pm ![]() I would swap the kids area for bedroom 3. Re: My plan... would you change anything? 15Jul 14, 2016 10:32 am ![]() Hi all, We're currently finalizing plans with our builder. Just thought I could use some more eyes to see if I've missed anything? Which direction does your block face? Personally, I think getting the orientation right is the most important thing with any house design. Who doesn't want a nice bright house, which is warm in winter & cool in summer? This can be quite easy to achieve by choosing a design that locates the living areas (& a large portion of the windows to the north), so they are warmed by the sun in winter, & shaded by eaves in summer. Limiting western windows will keep the house cooler in summer (you don't want bedroom windows facing west). Do this & you'll have a house that is more comfortable, plus you'll greatly reduce your bills for heating & cooling. The term to look up is "passive solar" design. More can be found on this great government website, http://yourhome.gov.au/passive-design/ Re: My plan... would you change anything? 16Jul 14, 2016 11:16 am ![]() ![]() Hi all, We're currently finalizing plans with our builder. Our builder said we should get all the daytime sun through the living areas and the afternoon sun will hit the garage. Does that sound right? The house can't be west facing based on what builder said (Sounds more like North facing) I second Shelby, put the bed rooms together and move laundry Do you need a door from WIR to the side of the house? We tried to have the kids area where it is so kids can go out the back straight from kids area, without tracking through house. I might ask builder to switch and compare the plans. Thanks a ton for your advice 😃 Re: My plan... would you change anything? 19Jul 14, 2016 2:38 pm ![]() ![]() ![]() [quote="kel_taylor10"]Hi all, We're currently finalizing plans with our builder. The door in the WIR is to a little parents retreat/deck. And we will be eventually making the side yard into a courtyard. Our daughter can have the back yard and make a mess lol.
