Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 21Sep 06, 2016 5:41 pm So just an update, or lack there of, there has still been nothing more done on our house. Beyond frustrated but nothing we can do. I emailed Ashford Homes to express my frustration and how ridiculous taking 4 months to get to frame stage was, and they came back with this: "your contract is quite clear in that it provides for a certain time frame in which to build your new home plus any variations allowed to the builder for inclement weather, building material supply interruptions etc. If the time to build exceeds this time frame then compensation is payable, it is as simple as that. There is no obligation on the builder to work at any particular pace throughout the project or provide a timeline of on-site activity" Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Still no reason as to why we are delayed. Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 22Sep 10, 2016 10:03 pm Agree pretty awful reply. Not fair at all. I hope that doesn't happen to mine id be devastated. Some here are finished in four months. Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 23Sep 13, 2016 12:46 pm So another "non-update". We called the SS last week and he never called back. Still nothing happening at our block, Melbourne is pretty rainy this week, so I don't think much would get done even if they wanted to do something. I was a bit concerned about the warranty on my appliances. I bought my stovetop in Nov last year and the oven at the beginning of this year (with the hope of being in by the end of the year). I emailed Westinghouse and they said that the warranty starts from the day it's installed, which is such a relief, otherwise I was considering selling them. Bosch had the same response with regards to our dishwasher, which we have to pick up next week. Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 24Sep 15, 2016 12:53 pm Nice floor plan.. I am with Ashford , about to start building soon ... Thanks! Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 27Sep 18, 2016 9:50 pm Hey Ladybugs, yes it's been very frustrating!! I'm looking forward to seeing the tiles down too. Hopefully things get moving soon! Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 28Sep 25, 2016 9:01 am So still nothing happening at our block. And still no reason as to why. It is getting extremely frustrating now.
Not too sure if anyone saw the article in the Herald Sun or even the report on the Project about Ashford Homes? They have p i s s e d off a lot of their customers with delays and lack of communication and a lot of their suppliers and trades for lack of payment. Ashford's excuse is the weather. Which I find very hard to believe as every other builder seems to be managing with erecting houses. Our latest concern though is our frame (and windows), they have been sitting out in the weather for almost 4 months. The colour of the frame has "greyed", ( I will post pics later this arvo so you can see what I mean), I don't know if this means anything but we plan on having this inspected once we get our roof on (whenever that will be), and depending on the result of that, may need to have our frame replaced. Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 29Sep 25, 2016 10:41 am How frustrating for you! I think there is a general build thread about Ashford homes where people where having some problems Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 31Sep 25, 2016 1:24 pm That looks horrible! Have they gone into receivership or are they just focussing on new customers and ignoring existing customers? Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 32Sep 25, 2016 2:56 pm shortnstumpy That looks horrible! Have they gone into receivership or are they just focussing on new customers and ignoring existing customers? Personally, I think that they're trying to finish the houses that are further along. Then, I don't know.... Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 33Sep 26, 2016 12:23 am Really bad way to treat people should not be allowed Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 34Oct 06, 2016 10:00 am Omg Party of 5. i am so sorry i didn't realise it had been sitting there for 4 months at frame stage! that is disgraceful.. i have only found out about all this huxley and ashford drama yesterday and am really worried about what to do as we are building with newstart in qld which is the same company but different brand name, as they all have different names for each state. i honestly don't know what to do. Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 35Oct 06, 2016 1:51 pm Hey Ladybugs, yes what is happening is pretty sh!t. Have you started your build yet? Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 36Oct 06, 2016 4:45 pm no not yet.. we have signed contracts and have colour selection tomorrow! we got our solicitor onto it today and she couldn't find anything on newstart and said she found no reason to steer us away from them so that is something i guess, she said they are not a franchise as i wanted to make sure they were not all run the same, a guy said ashofd and huxley were ran by sales ppl not sure how true that is though, i would go to fair trading hun that is ridiculous to have a frame sitting there that long.. no excuse if you ask me. Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 37Oct 06, 2016 5:21 pm Hey Ladybugs, Bob Day owns Ashford and Newstart. Google him and see what you can find out. What was the compensation in your contract if they go over? Ours was just $1 a week!! Hopefully, Newstart Homes is run differently. Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 38Oct 17, 2016 7:51 pm Got news today that they went into liquidation, we were going to pull out of our cont act so that just made it a lot easier for us! Part of 5 Ashford went down too didn't they? Re: Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 39Oct 17, 2016 8:07 pm Hey Ladybugs, that's great that it worked in your favour. This was also our best case scenario. We're lucky we didn't get further in our build bc I've heard that they've done some pretty ** work Our Ashford Homes Build - the beginning... 40Oct 18, 2016 12:22 pm For those of you following... some people may already be aware but our builder has gone into liquidation. I must say, I'm not surprised in the slightest. I don't really know what the next step is from here. We haven't been contacted by anyone yet. of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 23787 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17628 3 48409 |
