Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Metro 32 KDRB Bayside Melbourne 21Sep 15, 2016 7:16 pm We would have liked to have at least gone with the next size up, the Laguna but we are 20cms short on our block width and council wouldn't have a bar of it! Still no word on knock down and I'm starting to get impatient....its been over 2 months and I think M have been slow to provide council with revisions of wordings on the plans and more info on land fall etc. I think I'll call council tomorrow and get an accurate update as M just keep saying "they're working on it"! M aren't actually doing it anyway, they've outsourced it. Frustrated! It will be awesome if we can start building around the same time!! Re: Metro 32 KDRB Bayside Melbourne 23Sep 19, 2016 2:50 pm JLH222 Ok, check out this link.... Pretty much the same as this but I'm undecided on timber species yet and stain colour. Also finalizing the handrail. Minus the red pillar too....I don't want that http://sastairs.com.au/project/david-street/ Wow! What a stunning staircase design....is that custom or one of the options through Metricon? I really like the timber stair case with the rebated glass balustrade, closed stringers and open risers. http://www.metricon.com.au/metricon/med ... /study.jpg They quoted me $15k - $18k for these! Does that sound about right? How much did your stairs cost? Do you know what the standard staircase on the metro looks like? Hi Vantage, The display stair in the Metro 31 is about $16k but that's based on VIC prices from December 15. My staircase is custom....I'm lucky enough to work for a staircase company. The standard staircase in the Metro is a closed stair, steel balusters, timber to first 2 treads and then carpet. A very basic stair. We're also having a similar rebated glass balustrade, timber staircase with closed risers.. We were quoted $12k for the Metro 32. It also depends on the length of the balustrades on the second storey. We did some modification and moved the master bedroom to rear so there was balustrades all around the void on the top floor. If you check the building regulations I think they mention there is a time limit of a few weeks from memory of how long council can take to do their report and consent process... that might help you along! Thanks, Christoshizz. I'll check that out but when I spoke with council the other day, they said the standard was 8-10 weeks plus advertising time It's just crazy! I can't imagine what I'd do already Yes but time leads to thinking and changing ones mind....I'm going back in to see our M stylist tomorrow for the 3rd time to change some stone choices, handles to study and powder room, and from blinds to sheers/curtains. The sooner they approve our build, the sooner I'll stop making changes!! Lol I want to see if they'll let me polish the slab for our flooring too but I'm not sure they'll agree Re: Metro 32 KDRB Bayside Melbourne 38Oct 04, 2016 9:08 pm Christoshizz Have a read of page 5 section 12 of the link below. http://www.vba.vic.gov.au/__data/assets ... onsent.pdf Thank you, that's very helpful. I wonder how they've been getting away with it for so long?! Council openly told me 8-10 weeks plus advertising time of 2 weeks! I'll be calling them tomorrow. M cant prepare and have us sign final contracts until council approve our report and consent so yes, I guess we can still go nuts with changes! lol Keen to hear from people in the area who have got KDRB done on whom they got the build from? Looking for recommendations. Thanks 0 21099 Your best bet might be to go visit the display homes and walk around in them, and take photos.
